What are these?

Tried searching through the threads with no luck. I had to pull the knee panel below the steering column, and saw two parts I'm not sure what they're for - first one is a small pin connector and second is a slotted thing with nothing behind it:

 

That's where the driver side Temp sensor would be if you had automatic climate control instead of manual temp control on your A/C.

 

The slotted opening is for the in cab temperature sensor IIRC.

 

makes sense! what about the pin connector? It's on the other side of the panel, so makes me think it's not related to the temp sensor.

 

There's also a tire pressure monitor reset button and a light for the driver foot well that are/can be connected to that panel. Both of them are to the right of the steering column though.
