I just found out that in a month my navigation and a few other options on my 2020 TRD PRO are going away unless I pay $8 for each of them....I didn't know I had to pay to use nav after the first year...I talked to a friend and he said he could use "android connect" or something like that and my nav would still work... Anyone as ignorant about this stuff as I am?

You don't loose nav, you lose the ability to have a live person plug your destination into it.

It's that "destination assist" thing that you can use if you press the emergency button on the headliner above the mirror. I never used it either so I'm certainly not paying $8 a month to not use it... lol.

I do pay for the remote as I forget to lock my truck fairly regularly so I need it to yell at me through my phone to lock it. Call it the forgetfulness tax.

Upgrade to a head unit with android auto or carplay. The phone-based navi systems are waaay better than any garmin/OEM I've seen.

I have Nav and use Waz most of the time. Stream to radio while listening to Pandora or Spotify. Works great. I like having the Nav option though.

99% sure they added that to the 2020 Trucks. That's why I went with a '19 instead of a '20.

Thanks guys for all the input. I'm going to a buddy's place so he can sync the phone and nav.

Yes, that works - when you have cell service. If you have preloaded maps to your phone and go into a no service area, ya got nothing.

Well an out date map do me no good either, I could see where I’m at but no road.

You can always download offline maps if you know ahead that you may enter area where cellular signal will be weak or non. I do that as a precaution. Just in case there’s no signal, map still shows you where you are going.
