Did a search and came up dry. Does anybody have a set of Rocky Road Outfitters sliders on their 1st gen? They seem decently priced to the competition and they come powder coated with that price too, as most companies charge more.

They offer a variety of set ups for our trucks. The reason I’m wondering is because their sliders use a “triangulated” mounting system, so it bolts on to the frame as well as the body seam. I did a google search for the sliders and a Tacomaworld post came up and guys were losing their minds that it mounted to both the frame and the body, saying that it should mount to the frame only in case of flexing it could ruin your truck since they need to be able to flex independently. Of course no one had any real world experience with this happening, everyone was just throwing in their 2 cents on why they would never buy them.

Let me know what you think, I’ve been eying Victory 4x4 sliders since I bought the truck, but they recently went up $100(so $799) in price due to material cost rising, and they come as bare metal at that price plus fright shipping would be a lot on top of that.

My experience with the rocky road slides is with a 95 4Runner. I like them, they fit tight. Wasn’t thrilled that they attach to the body pinch weld but figured there wasn’t a lot of flex with that vehicle. My 17 Tundra I went with the victory 4x4 sliders and am very happy with them. I bought early and bare metal, then had a local shop powder coat them. Zero issues or complaints. They work great with the Valhalla cat shields as well.
I wouldn’t do sliders that attach to the pinch weld of my tundra because it’s designed to flex between cab and bed. That being said the 4Runner was bought as a toy because side by sides are a lot more expensive.

I had a set of them on an 04 xterra. They did only attach to the frame on that truck. The things were pure beef. Man they took a beating.

I dk t really have any input on the mounting to the body part. Seems like it’s be counterproductive but they did it for a reason.

Mainly commenting to see which set up you decide to go with

@FatBuddy92 are you really planning to off-road with your truck or are you just wanting something to step up on?

The last time Rocky Road sliders were discussed they got a lot of negative press, not specific to our trucks but others. I really like my White Knuckle sliders but the price was a bit outrageous. I justified it at the time by using my Stimmy check.

@FirstGenVol I’m looking for sliders but also a step for my 5’9” self, Victory 4x4 really seems to be my best option and I like the “non kick out” look
