I would have him write a ticket next time and go to court. If you feel he is in the wrong, he will get to hear it from a judge. If you are wrong, you will get to hear it from a judge.
Arguing is never a good idea on the side of the road, and glad you didn't.

The next time he pulls you over in front of the school, drive down a block or two away from the school. If the officer asks why you didn't pull over asap, you can tell him it was for safety since most drivers rubbberneck when a cop has someone pulled over.

Your first two infractions from this cop are legit, so in no way is it harassment, you are just an easy target. Good luck man, this could go either way.

There are a good number of douchebags around here that drive around with their bro-bars (LED bars) on all the time and it is just blinding. I laugh and honk every time I see them get a ticket.

My brother said the exact same thing about letting him write me a ticket. I only stated it seams like harassment because of comments the officer has made. He actually told me today "to stop adding stuff to my truck like the lights". He said "you can't keep adding things to your truck".

My first time for being stopped I still question if it was legitimate. The LED bulbs I had installed by Toyota and they are dot approved and have a high and low beam on them.

Yup running off-road lights on the street is not only stupid but very dangerous to oncoming drivers. I don't ever use them unless I'm off-road. I did turn my light bars on one idiot running his light bar because he was blinding me. I have over 25,000 lumens on my front end. He quickly shut his light bar off.

If you're stopped in TX and you're carrying, you are required to present your LTC (license to carry) with your DL.

Sounds like a jobs worthy cop who's pissed off with having to do the school job when he really wants to be in the FBI or the like :rofl:Loser

Once I got pulled over in my corolla late at night. Cop walked around the vehicle and said he pulled me over because I had a clear cover over my front license plate. It was 1 a.m. He did also say there are a lot of drunk people out and to be careful. Hard to imagine they pulled me over because of the cover. I get it, my car was a magnet and he was checking to see if I was drunk.

I'm not sure why he is pulling you over to pick on your truck but I'd think he's got more important things to do than bug you on little shit like that.

I would take him to court, period.

    I had a harassment case 20 years ago...I won.

In Colorado you do not have to inform the officer of a CCW. I always do in case of them asking me to get out of the vehicle. I can't remember if the officers know, but I am pretty sure they don't.

Interesting TJ, I guess it's a North Carolina thing. I don't carry often, especially during the week because of who and where I work. I got a friend in the sheriff's office, guess I need to find out. When I went and took my cc course, the instructor was a retired Leo. He said unless they ask you, then don't offer, that when they run your plates they can see you have a CC.

Our states are the same. I do not have to say anything, however if an officer gets you out of the vehicle and pats you down and finds it...there might be hell to pay.

65WAT? There is no such thing as quota. This would lead to discrimination among other issues.

OP: Ill respond back after I go get some food...been on the road for 8 hours...to and from El Paso

That's not what a 25 year veteran of the Dallas PD told me. It's not officially called a quota, but a certain number of tickets are required. She preferred school zones since it was easy to write the required amount.

CO can still see it, but said person must be ran through NCIC. A plate doesn't mean that, that person you are stopping is the RO the plate comes back to.

    My .02, .03:

    A) good on you for not debating the stop with him. Usually doesn't help.

    B) My guess is he may have had a run-in with some bro who keeps their lights on when they shouldn't. Or, said persons light(s). may have caused an accident he was involved in. Could be a few things, honestly. If you had a good attitude with him on the stops, I'm not sure why he's still making minor traffic stops on you.

    C) a suggestion- win him over with kindness. It helps. I give out "thank you" pitched to Officers I see that may need a boost or are at a rather large incident and you can see their stress. I've given our Starbuck cards too..it's the small things that count, really. Just showing others care is a huge support of itself

Yep. I've been stopped (as the wife) and I'm carting. I announce it as we both do not want surprises and I want them to know I care for their safety as I do mine.

I've heard similar, but worded differently. Sometimes speed enforcement is a directive based on complaints. None of my buddies enjoy issuing a summons- unless they truly earned it.

This right here. Any SAE or DOT numbers will identify the type of light, and then they must be mounted within the guidelines - height, aim if applicable, etc... If no SAE / DOT approval numbers, or mounted outside the guidelines then they must be covered, or removed.

If you believe the officer is harassing you, then you need to file a complaint.

Good luck, its a dime a dozen there are great cops and there are shitty cops,

I have the same lightbar and haven't had any issues yet, I asked my fellow officers that I work with and they said the same thing.. as long as it's amber or white shouldn't be an issue. Hope you get it taken care of!

I guess pull off the tint and get new legal tint.

I mean hell, if you drive to CA they will fine you too even if you are out of state. Got to play by the rules.

If I'm going to California I'm taking a jet anyways. Lol. I was told that you can only have six lights on the front of your vehicle turned on at one time in CA. Not sure if that's true or not.

Im pretty sure its only 4 at one time. Headlights + fogs. Or highs + lows if they are separate bulbs.

Hopefully you get it figured out. Pulling over at school is not cool for infractions like that. I would worry about speeders and unsafe manuvers.

What would be 6 lights? Are they including drls and leds nowadays? Led drl or rings + lows + fogs?

You will not get fined in CA if you are from another state driving though or visiting.
