So I drove back from MN to CO over the 4th of July weekend. I had an odd problem that happened twice.

What happened was we would pull off to get gas. I would fill up at the pump with the truck turned off. I would start the truck to move away from the pump so someone else could use it. Head in to use the facilities and then when I came back out the truck would not start.

The symptoms of not starting were:

The majority of the dash lights did not come on when I went to the 2nd key position.

No clicking or anything when I went to key position 3.

Windows would go up and down in key position 2.

The transmission gear position indicator (The green "P" for park.) was on when the key was in.

I would wait 2-5 mins and try again and everything would work normally.

So I don't think its a battery, starter, fuel pump or fuse problem. I don't even think it's an overheating problem because both times I stopped to get gas. Turned off the truck to fill up. Restarted the truck to move it and it would not restart on the 2nd time. One would think that it's hotter right after filling up.

Thoughts? What relay would control those systems?

    Easiest thing first..
    1. battery... how old is your battery?? Batteries don't like heat so there may be your first sign of a going battery.
2 how are your posts looking?? Calcified drop a coke and a smile and it will clear it up.. clean the posts and reinstall clamps and go on your merry way..

You have power so I'm leaning on a dying battery..
