I'm about to turn 34 years old and my wife and I have absolutely zero desire to have children. She drives a 2015 Lexus IS250 and I have my truck. If we ever need to drive family somewhere (rare, as our closest family is 3 hours away) we'll take her car. So I decided nearly two years ago to remove the rear seats from my Tundra.

It was completely for spatial reasons for my dog as he is back there quite often and I felt terrible with how he'd lay across/along the seat support beams. Anywho, Figured some of you might like to see some photos. As it could be converted for Overlanding or something.

Like I said, this was done nearly two years ago. But it's held up brilliantly. If anyone has some questions feel free to ask!

Pretty slick. What materials did you use? Is it easily removable?

Love seeing mods like this that have proven themselves useful for a long time. I’d love to do it myself, but having kids, the most I could see doing is removing the smaller rear seat on the passenger side, and I’m just not sure the space gained would be worth it.

Like a big ass single cab! I love it. If I didn’t have to have the extra seat on occasion as well as the potential for a grandchild someday, I would do this too. I really hope that grandchild‘s far out though!

1/2" plywood and 1x3s.. It could potentially be removed within 15 minutes, but the "top" if you will is screwed down to the frame/structure of the platform. That structure is then bolted down to the cab where the seat bolts originally resided. I also added some sound deadening mats everywhere while I was back there. When I had first removed the rear seat, I went for a drive to the grocery store and it was LOUD back there without the seats. Now it's much better.

I could get the seats back in with an hour or so of work but unless I sell it I don't forsee that ever happening.
