Good afternoon all, long time listener, first time caller…
Gots my new Tundra CM(non JBL) a couple days ago and am getting everything together that I need to upgrade my tunes. Any and all opinions are welcome, as well as thanks in advance! Here we go…
I already have my amps- Audiocontrol D4.800 and an LC1.800 as well as a pair of Alpine Type R components and a pair of Type R 10s in a sealed box. I will be keeping the stock HU for the time being and the Alpines aren’t necessarily going in this install.
My first thought is to get another set of type R components and hook up both pairs and calling it good. Could even get a pair of coaxial for the rear fill and just use the Type Rs in the front…
Second scenario would be an Audiofrog GS front stage and maybe a pair of Sundown SDs in a vented box behind the rear seat.
Third would be a Dynaudio Esotan front stage and Sundowns.
I will be mounting the tweeters in the sail panels, and will need another set of sails. Is it worth it to source a pair with the tweeter grills? Any one know how big of a tweeter I can mount in the prefab sails behind/flush in the stock grill holes? Should I just stick with the stock style and flush mount my tweets?
I’ll need some speaker adapters as well, if I go with the Alpines or Audiofrogs, I’ll be using 6x9 mids in the front. From what I’ve read here, there are a couple sources most people use for adapters. I’ll need a couple wire harnesses as well, suggestions for trouble free options? I will be using passive crossovers just for the sake of keeping fronts and rear speakers. The Alpine sub will be in use until I upgrade my HU, although it may end up being in a ported style box.
Amps will be mounted under passenger seat, anyone have a good templet for an amp rack?
Sound deadening, wiring up the amps, running speaker wire I gots…although I’m sure I’ll have more questions as I get there. I would be interested to hear from those running Dyns or ‘Frogs for sure! Depending on my mood and what I can find, I have contemplated adding some mids to the dash holes and running them active and the components with their passive crossover. If I’ve missed anything, please, help a brother out! Thanks!
