Figured I would get new lower ball joints before even thinking about buying a new wheel and tire setup, after looking at mechaincs estimate, I found the parts he was going to use. He quoted for the Movotech TXMS86564 and 86565 parts numbers, has anyone used the movotechs? found them for a lot cheaper online than what hes able to get them for, just wanted to see what others opinions on them were.

Noooooooooo! No Mevocraps for Lower Ball joints! That is a rapid fail part, likely the cheapest he could source. Factory is best, not cheap, but reliable. A few (myself included) have had luck with Moog.

I no longer do parts look ups for your year, but if I was you I’d do an online search for Toyota Parts Programme and only use OEM Lower Ball Joints. Your local Stealer may participate for free pick up.

Plug in your VIN# and will probably find them priced in the $110-140 range for Toy OEM.

I would price the Toyota OEM lower ball joints at one of the online dealer discount sources and compare. It's worth the cost if you can afford it. If money is tight, then the Moogs I ordered came from RockAuto.

Go factory on lower ball joints, when they go it's not a pretty site! Wheel falls over sideways and the chassis hits the pavement.

I think I was able to find OEM ones for about $125 each, does that sound about right?

    Parts are 43330-39825 and 43340-39595

Trying to keep this simple: If your local Stealer has Online Pricing (Parts Programme) then you may be able to pick up locally saving any shipping cost to your home. Sometimes shipping is $$$ and sometimes no big deal. I have a local that is close and can pick up free. The Parts Dept is helpful, too.

If shipping is about the same across all Stealers, then shop the cheapest one and just ship it to your house.

I was able to find a website thats only charging $12 shipping for everything together, so I think I am going to go with them. Also going with the ranco 2.5 inch leveling quick struts, since I need new shocks anyway and want to replace the cheap 3 inch block up front

My local stealer prices matches. I find it the cheapest I can online then call those incompetent idiots, they order it from the warehouse, and Parts in hand next day.

I paid 126.81 per BJ about a month ago from a dealership an hour and half away from me. Why the bolts? Just incase they are stripped or is there something that I have learned on here where they need to be replaced each time? Now y'all got me worrying lol.

Applying torque during install will stretch the bolt, and when torqued beyond it's specs, can damage the bolt. The threads can strip, the head can twist in addition to stretching. Retorqueing this bolt could result in a lack of stretch (already stretched) which leaves less holding power and could even result in breakage. If you've only ever used the bolt for it's designed purpose, always used a torque wrench to apply the prescribed amount of torque and it hasn't been subjected to excessive heat or corrosive compounds, you could reuse the bolt. External engine heat isn't enough to matter. Brakes typically do not get hot enough to matter, although they can in some situations. These lower ball joint bolts are subjected to corrosive conditions in some areas. Are under a good deal of stress (holding the front suspension together) and it would be good practice to change them for a few bucks vs. the catastrophic failure cost. I have re-used mine being in a non-corrosive area and using a torque wrench to install, but I still have one that stripped. It may have been cross-threaded during install. New bolts would be the way to go.

This is what I was leaning towards but wasn't going to describe it quite that well. Thanks! Looks like I'm getting new bolts even though they've been done right from my workings.

Local dealership wants about $150 per ball joint, but said they would price match if other dealerships online were 125 each. Does anyone know a website link to other dealerships that would be cheaper? doesnt have to be in my state, just need to prove others are cheaper

Got my local dealer to price match everything, Total is going to come out to $260 including the 8 new bolts, thanks for all the help everyone. Do OEM ball joints need to be greased after installing?

Glad it worked out for you. The OEM LBJs are sealed and they don't need greasing. Should be good to go for another 100k/ 10 years at least.

    No experience here, sorry.
