Landcruiser pickup?

I saw this truck today being hauled in Muskogee OK.
Grille had a newish TOYOTA emblem and the front fender had an old school Landcruiser emblem.
Wheels, tires, entire suspension looked brand new as well as the tail lights.
Body was freshly painted but maybe a little worn underneath.

Is this a thing or someone's project?

Interesting that those LC-70 are running with Fox, also noticed the nitrogen psi written on the shocks. Adds a custom built feeling.

Yes this is a thing. You know those janky vehicles you see in the middle east with an anti aircraft gun in the bed? Usually those are Landcruiser pickups, and not hilux as many people assume.

 

Had a 91 Jeep Commanche Pioneer compact 2 door pickup 4.0 HO inline six part time 4WD similar body style to this LC. Jeep was no LC, but it would hold it's own, and if you flipped the Beast mode switch it was a whole bunch of fun when up against a Camaro or similar.

LOL. They do, and have been since the early 1980's. The 70 series Land Cruiser is legendary all over the world. In Australia, a brand new one that's decently equipped sells for around $70k usd. The only way to get one in the US is to find one older than 25yo (the one in op seems to be) and import it, find one being auctioned off by the military (a local guy I know lucked out and did this), or buy an 80 series donor frame and purchase all of the body parts separately to bolt on to the 80's frame.

 

Yep, helluva deal.

 

Truck is cheap, the divorce would cost a bundle.
