Stupid question of the night

Ok, after seeing pics of someone’s cabin air filter, I checked mine. Yea… horrible. Bought a couple Toyota replacements with the carbon filter. When I went to install one, it had this big yellow sheet that said: “WARNING - set ventilation to Recirc!”

that’s it, no explanation or how long or anything. Anyone have a clue?????

 

Set it to recirc and then shut the truck off. That will make the flap be in the up position and out of the way of the filter. Don’t try to move it by hand, you will break it.

 

Does the arrow on the filter face up or down???

I would assume the arrow would be direction of airflow. Which would be down.

So why does that black access panel says UP with arrow pointing UP?
