I have the opportunity between the two trucks listed below but have a few questions about them

    2017 Tundra Platinum 4x4 71,000 miles

Has fender flares which I hate and looks to be squatted with 2” front spacers unfortunately but I can fix that by just adding rear Spacers myself.

The other truck in question is

2018 white SR5 crewman 4x4 with 29K nothing crazy just less miles and 1 year newer

Both trucks would be the same price and both come with a free lifetime power train warranty just a tough choice to choose between the two

I only have one pic of the white one unfortunately

i would chose the platinum. look at the options between the sr5 and the platinum and pick the one that has the features that you want. suspension and fender flares can easily be fixed/changed.

Lets see, Platinum trim, Fuel wheels, pro grille, easily removed flares, color matched bumpers and surround etc. Or bone stock sr5 that just looks ready to hang drywall in work truck white... Platinum all day.

The white one is the right move. 40k miles in 1 year is quite a bit. White trucks aren’t just for construction guys and will look great with a few mods. However black trucks are for professional detailers lol

    Happy Father’s Day!

Sorry folks. White is the way. Someone who squatted a truck is obviously mentally handicap. Probably drove like a bat out of hell, did not do basic maintenance, and God knows what else. Don’t take a black light to the back seats. And white has 50k less miles.

Get white one and mod yourself. Less miles , better truck to start. Add katzkin leather interior of your liking .
Like people here commented you don't know how that black truck was treated before.

For the same price I'd get the lower mileage every day. You can spend a little money and mod it later.

0% chance I would buy the one with almost 50k more miles. That’s just silly… the platinum package adds nothing of significance that can’t be added later.

I’d also vote for lower mileage…. White looks pretty sick with some blacked out rims, and dark tint… the stormtrooper look. And 50k more miles…. I’d say go for less mileage, then modify to your likes

Definitely white. Last thing you want is a black crewmax. Just wash one by hand once!

Id personally take the unmolested white one over the squattybutted gangstaboo black one if I had no other choice. The people that drive that crap around here typically got mommy and daddy to help pay for it and give zero shits about hammering the crap out of them. You know the types.. pass you on a double yellow and you end up at the same red light next to them.

Or someone spent the time they had taking care of it instead of destroying it while joy riding.

2018 introduced adaptive cruise and front collision avoidance, NOT offered on the 2017.

Depending on how it’s equipped, the TRD Offroad package very likely added LED headlights (a significant upgrade), upgraded shocks, the versatile Offroad wheels, and a list of other items.

Both trucks will be equipped with the now defunct (and missed by many) dedicated transmission cooler- a plus if you plan to tow or haul.

While the Plat will have some possible upgrade creature comforts, like leather, sunroof, upgraded sound, dual climate zones, and different trim, it stands to reason that you can build the exact comforts into the ‘18 that are really important to you.

The 2017 Plat looks a bit hacked, and has a lot more miles. It doesn’t look particularly well cared for.

I’m not a fan of white, but if I had this choice to make, I would go for that 18. To me 18 was the unicorn year, and that truck looks unmolested and clean. And you can make the white trucks look pretty awesome.

Here you go... most of us on this site love our trucks, and place a premium on doing things correctly. This one image should indicate to you the carlessness or incompetence of the previous owner:

Take the one that hasn't been abused.

Also, those trucks aren't the same price. The black one needs tires ASAP, so add that into your cost.

Fact is those are not your only choices, there are others, and a vehicle purchase is pretty significant for most people. Don't forget tags, taxes, insurance, depreciation, fuel, maintenance, upgrades, etc. Lots to keep in the back of your mind. For example, I didn't really consider rim and tire security before my purchase, now corrected, but still an added cost to own. Many here have been installing skid plates to minimize catalytic converter theft possibilities at a cost of a few hundred bucks. It can add up really quickly, so my advice is to be prepared for the REAL costs.

The white one all day every day. 42k miles could equate to 3 years longer life!

As far as removing fender flares from a black truck..yeah sure there will be no paint damage under those...now about that bridge I have for sale...

Nothing wrong with preferring a vehicle that is easier to keep clean/shows less scratches/flaws/swirls/holds up better in the sun/is a lot cooler in the sun than most vehicles/ and as everyone knows it is the fastest color and the best looking

Most white vehicles may show less scratches and flaws, but the paint is generally poor quality, single stage crap, that has clear mixed in with the color. It definitely does not hold up as well as other colors. My previous vehicle was a perfect example, 02 Sequoia in drywall-er white. It was horrible looking, a pain to keep clean and even after using a 3 step process to buff it and a good coat of wax the top of the thing grew black spots of mold or whatever. That's the real reason I will never own another white vehicle, I just like to make work-truck and drywall-er jokes.. and now I can add lawn care specialist to the list. :D

Yeah second the durability flaw with white vehicles. I had a white 2010 4Runner. Paint bubbled and chipped in a ton of areas. My old man has a 2003 white taco and the paint on that is awful also.

Quality is poor, which is a shame.
