I posted this on the First Gen FB group but forgot to on here.

I don’t know if anyone else has done this, but thought it would be cool to see how big the network of 1st gen lovers is on here.

Long story short - my parents are going out West(from GA) going up to the Dakotas, then to Yellow Stone, making it as far out as Idaho, then coming down through Colorado, to New Mexico, then coming back through the Southern States to get back to Georgia.

I’m letting them borrow the truck because it has way less miles than any of their cars(the Tundra has 56k original miles right now) and I’m a good son.

I know this is a bone stock truck(except for the Granite Alloy wheels from previous owner) but if you see it on the road, or parked at a National Park l, take a pic of it or write “FGT” on the rear window or something and tag me in it. It has GA plates that should stand out, out West.

    Thanks in advance!84012E9D-BC1B-40DC-A39F-DFE2A419426C.jpg 3D78C9F5-92C3-4241-B016-EC30052D3037.jpg

It sounds like they're on a wonderful trip in an ideal rig. Nice work putting your truck on loan to Mom and Dad.

Eyes peeled in north Idaho and on the road in general.

Tell them they have got to spend some time in South Dakota. Must eat at Nick's in Brookings. Must of course see Mt Rushmore and get up to Sturgis too. Can't miss the Badlands. Forget Wall drug, way over rated! If they have time check out the minute man silo tour as well. Sioux falls is just okay. Custer state park, very nice. Just can't hate on SD at all. Safe travels to your folks!

They made it all the way to Omaha last night. Now they’ll head up to the Dakotas, Mt.Rushmore is a must. I think they are planning to spend the most time at Yellowstone.

Yellowstone is pretty amazing been 2x. Just warn your folks the food is terrible anywhere you eat in the park . Even the “fancy” steakhouse on lake Yellowstone had awful food.

My folks made it to South Dakota, they had a few stops before this like Chimney Rock and Crazy Horse. Continuing on from SD in the morning.

Careful, with that sort of parking job you might have @Darkness start a poll about you. :D

Glad to see your parents are having a good time though. Seems like a great trip.

@FirstGenVol i told them to send me some good pics so I could lust over my truck being in some awesome places without me

The next time the truck is out there it will look like a true Overlander, been saving up to make all the changes at once so I don’t have to pay for multiple alignments.

@bmf4069 they kind of take it day by day, I’m not sure if they’re stopping anywhere else before Yellowstone that is planned. But the are known to detour and stop at things that interest them on the way

Great pic. I've never seen this view of Mt. Rushmore before. Did they trailer motorcycles? The Black Hills offer outstanding bike riding on and off road. Great driving in a good truck too.

Folks made it to Devil’s Tower, my Mom isn’t so bad at taking poster worthy pics of the truck. They are crossing Wyoming to Yellowstone where they will stay a few days

Yeah I’m super jealous, but with a 2 year old and a one year old, a trip like that would be hell for me right now. Plus there’s no way we could all sleep in that truck.

Awesome trip! A close friend and I did a similar trip ten years ago. 14 states and 10 national parks or thereabouts. It was incredible. Just rattling off some highlights: Colorado - Mesa Verde and 4 Corners; Northern AZ offered Lake Powell and Grand Canyon; Utah has 4 national parks which are all incredible; Wyoming of course has Grand Tetons and Yellowstone; the Dakotas have several ... A heck of a trip. I did it in my 4Runner.
