I’m new to the Tundra family and so far i am enjoying it (driving it, my previous truck was a F250). My brother in law asked me to watch over his 2007 Tundra while he was deployed overseas (where it’s 103 in the morning). He didn’t think his wife would drive his truck while he was gone and he knew we might need the use of it since we’re remodeling. I’ve only had it 1 day and noticed a couple of things that needs addressed. Brakes! I think he knew what he was doing when he ask me to look after it.
I’m hoping to find the information and knowledge on this forum to correctly maintain his vehicle for him and his family (wife and 2 young boys) when we return it back to them.
    Initially i found:
    - The back rotors are pitted and grooved (the calipers look hideously rusted)
    - The front rotors are warped (calipers are the same as the back.
    - The brake peddle goes almost to the floor.
    - The emergency brake cables are frozen and the front is broken where they meet.

The Tundra is a 2007 with a 5.7 engine, double cab, 4x4 base model 157,000 miles.

I bought brakes and rotors for front and back thinking that’s all i needed. Then i watched the video on setting the e-brake and started on the rear brakes and said ohh snap! I found the e-brake cable issues holding the rears shoes engaged and everything seized up.

I look forward to communicating with the forum as i start addressing the above issues and I am hoping that i can learn quickly to do it right the first time. I have been working on my cars and truck for the last 30 years, so i know my way around a box end wrench :)

    Thanks,
    Joe
