His options were limited with his credit. He's a fantastic mechanic, but a terrible accountant. :notsure:

I thought of that too, but although I think Ford knocked it out of the park with the bronco design I hate Ford. Also the adaptive cruise control in their bronco won’t bring it to a stop.

That is definitely suspect but I’ll only be interested in the auto.

The fact that they F'd up something that practically no one gets wrong and put a bandaid on is shady. Honestly, get an FJ Cruiser while you still can, the later years are nukeproof.

LMAO! Have you priced one lately? There was a used one with 50K or 60K miles at the dealership when I went in for service... $59,XXX sticker for that thing.

If they had a removable top that’s exactly what I would do. The fact is the wrangler platform holds its value better than any other vehicle… including all Toyotas. So if I buy it new and ride it till the warranty expires I’ve lost next to nothing. Then maybe I’ll trade it in for the Ford designed tundra lol

Well it's owned by Fiat. That would be enough for me. I also rode in one for a total of an hour. It was to uncomfortable for me.

Yeah. I about fell over when I saw that. Then again, they had a used '19 SR5 with nothing but a tonneau cover added (good equivalent to my truck) listed at over $52K. The MSRP on mine was $47K per the window sticker, and it was down to $41K before I even showed up at the dealership. Nuts to think that a used truck is priced at $5K more than my MSRP and over $10K more than I paid.

Not gonna even try to talk you out of it cuz I like the Gladiator. It's a good looking vehicle and has a solid front axle. It is like any other domestic where you may end up with a bad one but for the most part it's a reliable vehicle and that's what warranties are for. I have two issues...One is the engine choices. If it came with a V8 I would probably have one, otherwise, I would probably take a chance and throw down on the diesel. The Pentastar V6 has been around forever but it's sort of low on power for this vehicle IMO. Two....the price, ridiculous!

Maybe it’s been suggested, didn’t read all the thread, but can you rent one for special weekends or Wtv? Then the novelty of taking the top off won’t disappear. And you can take it back when done.

I am considering the diesel as well but it’s a $4000 up charge.

That presumably would be a lot of renting. So the back story is I used to ride motorcycles and miss it since I sold mine cause no time with the family. This way I can get that open air feel, include the fam, and not have to buy a Miata lol

Question: Will you be off roading it at all, or are you looking at it as a road trip on pavement kind of vehicle? If it's the latter then you might check out the Renegades that have the removeable tops. I know, I know, it's not the manly Jeep, but they are well mannered on pavement, surprisingly capable, and comfortable little rigs. Way less expensive than the Gladiator too, so maybe keep the Tundra and get a Renegade without their sky top thing?

The main reason here is to get the open air feel. I do mildly off-road from time to time but mostly it would be a back roads top down cruiser type deal.

I had a 2018 Renegade Trailhawk, and it was a fun little rig and an excellent 4x4 grocery getter. You can even find a video on Youtube where a stock Trailhawk Renegade with the 2.4 engine (only one I would consider, honestly) was taken on Black Bear pass. Mild off-roading would be no issue for it.

I wasn’t impressed with the off-road capability of the JT.

The JL is pretty damn good with the 4 cylinder Turbo, 2.5 Accutune off-road lift with Fox 2.5 shocks, 37” tires. The steering box will need to be upgraded if you want to steer straight, aluminum knuckles need to be swapped out for some Reed Racing ones, armor throughout. Careful on rocker protection on the JL/T since there’s no bracing behind the sheet metal like the JK’s. So rocker protection needs to be frame mounted. Nemesis Off-road has a nice setup for these needs.

I decided the price point was to high for a truck with limited features and load capacity. My original Gladiator Launch Edition was listed at $62k

@mbn225 have you considered getting a 4 seater SxS? They aren't super cheap, but much less than a Gladiator, fully off road capable, and the open top experience trumps what Jeeps get.

Edit to add the pic of my 2 seater that I enjoy. Licensed it and take it to work sometimes too.

I actually have a rzr and love it, mine is a 2 door as well but I can’t throw the wife, daughters and baby girl in one and cruise to the beach in good conscience. Love this suggestion though.

I had an ‘05 Wrangler and never had any problems. My buddy also had a TJ and only had to replace ball bearings at 150k.

A guy I work with and am friends with has a Gladiator and hasn’t had any issues with it. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one and almost did if I wouldn’t have needed more interior space. :notsure:
