Its an aluminum Giant. Nothing too fancy, all stock except I replaced the seat. I know, I know, it isn't black but thats so my wife can keep up.

My wife's is a carbon fiber Specialized with a lot of upgrades, we got a sweet deal on that when her friends thought they had to leave the country and sold almost all they own. Their situation got resolved but they didn't want the bike back.

We used to go for rides around this lake in San Diego every other weekend. On weekends when we stayed home we used to ride a 14 mile round trip on PCH that included some long and decent grades. We both need to get back to it.

Keep eating these and you will....yum yum. BTW, had the wife look those things up and she did a pretty good job making them.

The color choice makes since. Wives get grumpy when you leave them behind.

I really like the modern aluminum bikes. I don't think carbon has much advantage for most riders.

I am waiting on one more part for my old bike then I will post it up. I bought it 6 or 7 years ago for 30 bucks. I put a (never) used Brooks seat and new bar tape on. I put 1500 miles on it like that.

1991 Specialized when I bought it.

    FHikdyW.jpg

It looked like this for about a year and I went back to the brooks saddle.

I went throughb this when applying for my new job. As I understand it, the stuff you fill out online is used as a filter. Bigger companies and government entities often use HR software that filters applications based on keywords. If you don't hit enough of the keywords, your application is downgraded or rejected by the system. It helps keep HR people from having to go through 1000 resumes when only 50 of them are qualified.

Your uploaded resume is so that the company has it on file which they can reference or print for people who will interview you or otherwise screen you later on in the process.

@BubbaW flautas are worth the pain! Glad she made them and you enjoyed them.

@des2mtn we used to do 3 laps there in the morning, then find something to eat in Mira Mesa. I miss that routine.

@onesojourner I agree about carbon fiber. I look at it this way, if I'm not in peak shape then the best bike on earth won't help me. I will say my wifes bike does smooth out cracks and bumps better, I can tell mine is more rigid. I might try a carbon seat post as I've heard thats a good compromise.

I also have 2 Trek road bikes, I believe late 80s or early 90s. One is missing wheels and the other has wheels but missing spokes. I'm planning to build one into a single speed and the other I have no plans for.

Funny you should ask, I hadn't heard anything so I texted him this morning. He said truck's still running rough and he's trying a few things.

I still have our old bikes that I can seem to sell but never ride. Old Peugeots. Mine used to be a commuter but I kinda turned it more mountain bike style.

The smooth ride is why I am riding a steel bike. It's fun to watch the fork flex over bumpy stuff. The Aluminum bikes are definitely stiff. The 80's upper end treks were really nice bikes. I would like to come across one of their top tier frames in my size.

I always like the look of the old French bikes but they used their own standard and french sized their bottom brackets and stuff. That has kept me away. I also started on a treck hybrid. I will see if I can dig up a picture.

Not me. I don't get the wave from most others on road bikes because I use a mountain bike helmet and wear baggy shorts and a t shirt.

Here is one of the Trek bikes, waiting for a glorious return. The wheels are a bit tweaked and missing a few spokes. I may try to restore them. It is also missing most of the rear derailleur but I have a spare. 20210616_162718.jpg

Nope, got it off letgo for $20. I'm considering stripping it down and painting it when I fix it up, although the color is growing on me.

It does have cool brake levers with holes drilled in them, I like the bars and levers.

That looks a lot like it.

There is probably a tubing manufacturer label under there. It would probably be worth looking for that. You might have a really nice frame under there. If the groupset is original you could probably figure out what it is from the old catalogs.

Current version. Dick kicker at work. Got my dick knocked in the dirt when dilbert came back to work tonight. Wiring up outlets. He thought it'd be funny to take my community lock off the breaker and hit me once with 110.

I walked away after getting zapped. Dilbert. Talk about job fair motivation

He took off your lock/out ?!?? What an ass. I would be at the hospital for a medical evaluation and off work for a few days on worker’s comp and turn him in.

He came back to work tonight in prankster mood. He's lucky that I'm such an easy going feller now. If he'd have done that 3 years ago I'd have curb stomped him.
It is. I told my supervisor about it who just laughed because he doesn't want to do the paperwork.

Also, doesn't want to lose the manpower.

I've filed a few complaints over the last few years about similar "prankster" instances from him. Nothing was done about it.

He could yes, but my life is unimportant. That's been made clear through the years.

But yes, I think he was just trying to vent some extra build up because one of his grandsons is on life support, and currently brain dead. 7 weeks old and choked. Rushed to hospital, and is on life support now. Was too late for the baby's brain. It's just a little ball of organs now.

He's pretty fucked up over it. Guess he thought it'd be funny, and good way to blow off steam.

File the internal complaint for this one via email to your supervisor, safety coordinator, and HR. Keep it to facts "I placed LOTO on blank equipment at 0230, at 0300 blank coworker removed LOTO and energized the circuit with knowledge it was being repaired as a "prank" this resulted in an unsafe working condition" Request read receipts on it, print it out, and keep it. If you really want to be a dick copy the company president.

If you haven't already fill out an accident report with the same information. Documentation is your friend.

It's also a violation for multiple keys for the same lock out. File a complaint with OSHA for unsafe practices, provide them with copies of the email and accident report.

Sounds harsh but no matter what personal circumstances exist there's no reason to put someone else's safety at risk.
