Curious as to the tire air pressure everyone runs. I been putting 40 psig and everything is fine but I finally looked at my door sticker and it said 32 psig!! I could not believe it was that low, in my F250 it was 60psig!

F250 could carry more weight. For stock Michelin’s I kept it around 32-35. I have E rated duratracs now that the installer put to 40 when they installed them and it gets up to about 45 after driving awhile. I just left them there.

I went to the useless Bridgestone site to see load vs air pressure but nowhere to be found vs. the Michelin where it is super easy to find. Always buy Michelin!!!

I've felt the door sticker was always a little low for me. Truck felt like it had more sluggish body roll. Bumped it up a few PSI and it feels a lot better with more turning response

I run 40 on 33" tires when driving around the city/highway, I drop it to 15 on the beach, and about 20 on trails. I've heard the rule of thumb for airing down is your wheel size, 17" wheel? Lowest PSI to go is 17. (You can go lower on a beach because its soft and forgiving)

That sounds like a good rule of thumb. I like it. Those are in my numbers when I air down on the beach and trails.

    Too many, but not enough....
I have E load BFG KO2s and i usually run 40 psi for everyday driving. I have been putting a little more since i get alot of variation throughout the day, all the way from 36 to 42. I may aim for about 45 now since it seems to want to run low.

When I was on my stock Michelin ‘s, I disregarded the door sticker and went for tire wear and steering input along with just how the truck felt. I ran between 38 and 40 psi in the front and a little less in the back if I was driving around unloaded. I think it was around 32 PSI in the back. Now that I’m on E rated tires it’s about 44 psi (275/70-18 KO2s) in the front and 36 in the back, unloaded cold psi. I messed with it until I found where I like it to be, keeping an eye on contact patch.

i about to tow my boat 1K miles so I want to max air pressure for MPG and load. Sidewall say max is 42 psig (If I remember correctly). So either way I topped out.

I probably check my air pressure once a month and that’s what I decided as well. I was running 40 and decided 44 to 46 was good so I had a little room for it to let a little out as the month goes on.

Do you go off what the car computer shows? I usually base it on this and it seems to be pretty accurate when i compare to the gage on my compressor, within plus/minus 1psi.

Mine is only a warning light that goes off if you go beyond the tolerances. I just reset it when I find the air pressure I want it to be at.

Not sure about all models but mine doesn’t. (SR5) Maybe the limited and upper trims do

This cracks me up. So many here post they like 17 or 18" wheels (vs 20) because more sidewall gives them a smoother ride. Then they jack the PSI up to 40 or above giving them a harsher ride.

I follow the door sticker +2 as I rarely check the PSI when the tires are completely "cool". Just my option but I think that gives me the best combination of ride, handling and traction. I don't assume to be smarter than the Toyota engineers (and I am an engineer myself so I guess I know what I don't know).

As for helping MPG...yeah right... it is brick shaped nearly 6000 pound vehicle with a big V8 and 4.30 rear end. Yeah an extra 5 psi is my ticket to gas pump financial freedom.

Yeah I am in a surly mood this morning.

I guess i jacked pressure because I see zero downside. My ride is exceptional at 40 psig. My treadwear seams perfect. After my trip I will lower and see what difference in any there is in the ride. At my age the cost of fuel is irrelevant....
