Has anyone ever rebuilt their transfer case in a 2nd Gen Tundra? I have a 2010 TRD. This coming Thursday I will be pulling mine apart. I drained it 3 weeks ago and I got a few flakes of aluminum out of it. A bearing has been making noise for a while and I just ignored it. When I pulled our new RV to Gettysburg, PA and back, the bearing noise is a little louder now. I got all the bearings and seals necessary to overhaul it. But I think something in there went hay wire to create a bearing noise to start off with. My older Brother (he passed 2 years ago April) lived on a mountain top in upstate, NY. His driveway is 3/4's of a mile long for real! Every time I went to visit I had my 4 wheelers on the trailer, low range because it's a pretty rough off road climb. A bearing in the transfer case would start making noise after about a 1/2 mile. It would only do it climbing that mountain, so I actually forgot about it until I pulled our RV. The flakes of aluminum bothered me more than finding fine metal particles. For some reason the bearing is not getting oil on a steep climb, and that it is. A steep climb! If anyone can bring light to me, please do.
I've been around the block a little. The heavy equipment and 18 wheelers were working for private companies from 1971 to 2009. I feel if I could build a gearbox the size of my Harley Davidson, I can do a Toyota Tundra transfer case. If I can build Diesel and Gasoline engines, and rebuild my Harley Davidson transmission, I can rebuild a Toyota Tundra transfer case. I will do my best to inspect this transfer case, if any part of this case is gouged inside and I can't see why. I'll put a new case in it!
If I can help anyone here, I will do the best that I can.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Anthony C
