Okay so I have an issue. Got into my truck today and turned on the defrost as it was cold and rainy. The vents/tubes/fan started making a moose that made it sound like a leaf was stuck somewhere. The higher I turn the fan up, the fan/blower makes a weird noise like it has an issue. Wondering how easy it is to pull apart the dash/try to fix this issue, or if anyone has any suggestions/experience.

Been trying since this upload to post the video of the blower. Any advice on how to post??? I cannot get it to work. It says “the uploaded file does not have an extension”.

so it does allow me to post pictures. But not videos.

Found the issue!! Got on the ‘ol YouTube and looked up tundra fan noises. Found where the blower was and figured I’d see if that was where the noise was coming from. I opened it up and it was chock full of leaves, grass bits, pieces of foam, and other crap. Stoked because it resolved my issue. Attached is a picture of the blower fan and the pieces that fell out with the fan when removing it.

    Removed lots of rust.
Don't forget to remove the blower resistor and clean out the duct.

Check my build page for a proper Coil Cleaning Service.

A question I’d be asking myself is how did mega loads of fresh cut grass clipping enter you Blower Chamber so quickly?

Where is this blower resistor? I did clean out the duct up on top of the blower if that is what you are talking about.

That did worry me for sure. However there was no animal poop and no weird scents either so that was good. It seems odd that it is in there, and that it was green. It felt a little artificial, and when it was wet from today’s rain it looked more like moss. It’s making wonder if there are any other places to clean/check for debris in the dash. Also makes me want to set a trap in the cab overnight.

If what happened to you happened to me: I’d pop off the Windshield Cowl and inspect/clean for debris in there. Wonder if you still have the mesh screen attached? Also, you’ve probably some debris build up in your side door panel jambs as that is another drain point from the Cowl. Shtuff likes to build up in our lower jambs. Fold that plastic jamb flap out and clean it.

Like I said check my build page. You may need to vacuum/blow out that Blower Motor Resistor Hole (see pics) and get a water hose up in there to flush the coils off which will drain out the AC Drain on the firewall.

Any chance you have a rodent problem? That's what it looks like.

I don’t think I do. No funky smells, no poop anywhere, and no signs of stuff being open. I don’t keep any food in my truck, only a case of water, and I vacuum it once a week and I don’t see any signs of rodents or small animals.
