The 3rd gen trucks tailgate is an inch and a half thicker than the 2nd gen tailgates.
So if the cap has a top hinged door that closes against the tailgate then it might not fit between generations of the different thickness.

If for a 2nd gen truck the cap will be the tailgate thickness difference towards the cab if flush on the cab end of the bed on a 3rd gen truck.

So no not without modding the cap somehow to be an inch and a half longer for the tailgate thickness
