Hello, everyone. New member here. I've tried searching but couldnt find anything similar to my concern. 2003 tundra 4.7l 2wd sr5 with towing package.

the 10 amp gauge fuse, located under the driver side dash, keeps blowing out when connecting a trailer. all other fuses are good. inspected trailer wiring and truck wiring and all seems good. i have a 2002 tundra as well and it doesnt blow the fuse when connected to the trailer.

has anyone seen or heard of something similar? so far ive seen it blow when people shift into 4wd or in low range, but thats not the case here. truck runs perfect if no trailer is connected.

Do you have a brake controller on the 2003?

Jumper the fuse and look for the smoke to find the short. lol

Seriously though, just disconnect and ohm out the harness to help locate the short. Check the bulbs, connectors and look for any frays in the wiring.

Are you connecting the trailer with the truck running? I had a truck that would blow the fuse every time I hooked up a trailer with it running. Developed a habit of always having a truck turned off while connecting a trailer, never happened again after that.
