Really simple/stupid question. For those of us who have the sail panels from Tech12Volts, is door removal required to remove the sail panels?

I ask because I've finally determined that one of the tweeters is going bad; and I need to replace it. I can easily remove the door if need be; but would rather not, if it's not necessary.

Check the build link in my signature.
Not sure on the Tech12 ones, but the factory ones have to come off first to be able to remove the full door panel

That would be sweet, then - hoping it's the same thing.

(Of course, if I remove the sail panel and then find out the crimp joint is behind the door panel itself....LOL)

The sail panels that I got from them were a factory Toyota part and pulled off by hand without the door panel needing to be touched.

Maybe a stupid question but if you are replacing the the tweeter doesn't the wire run down into the door and tie into the speaker adapter? If so then wouldn't the door panel need to be removed to hook up the new tweeter? I guess if you have enough wire pulled through you could cut and wire the new tweeter in.

Chances are, you will need to pull the whole door panel off in order to get to the wires. Are your tweeters stock? Not sure if the stock tweeters have a cross over or not, but when I installed my tweeters the wires go to a crossover that is installed behind the door panel.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking; and it's raining like hell too. LOL

    So...interesting turn of events.

That entire side (right front) shut off today. I noticed it only because when I lost sound on the right hand side, I intentionally 'faded' all of the sound to that corner, and then I heard a *pop* and then music was restored.

Now I notice that when I lose sound, it's *not* just the tweeter - it's the tweeter AND the speaker on that side.

Of course, this means it's one of 3 things (that I can think of):

    1. Wiring
    2. Amp output
    3. Something screwy with the head unit.

Soon as I get a chance, I plan on swapping the right and left front outputs at the amp. That way, if the issue stays there, I'll know it's wiring; if it follows the speakers to the left side, it'll mean an amp or head unit replacement (I think). Thoughts?

NOTE: I should point out that when the speaker(s) do work on that side, they sound like they're working just fine - no degradation in signal - so I don't *think* it's an issue with the speakers themselves.
