If you go to the toyota.com site and search for specific vehicles; ie "I'm ready to buy, I know what I want", I can see two 4Runners suit my needs - but cannot figure out where to enter my credit card number and make this happen! (lol) The contact a dealer button did not result in any replies.

I called two Toyota dealers I work with (Odessa Tx & El Paso Tx) and they seem to have zero knowledge of the toyota.com website, in fact distanced themselves from anything found there. Perhaps it's because they are Gulf States dealerships?

Anyway, even though the vehicles depicted (below) appear very specific in detail as if they are already built, I have to wonder if because of the chip shortage or whatever, these vehicles are in fact not available at all.

Your good comments about waiting til the vehicle shortage is over, or this is not a good time to buy are noted and appreciated - but this is a wife we are talking about, she is not willing to wait for her new vehicle!

For ref, the vehicle she'd like is
    2021 4R
    LTD trim level
    4WD (well, AWD)
    not black or white exterior
    not redwood interior
Most anything else within this scope is tolerable.

Just go to a dealer and start the process. If what you want is available any dealer can get it to them for you to purchase.

I started the process with my local dealer online. They held my truck for me to see until I got there, probably a local accommodation.

They distance themselves because they risk losing sales when you find a vehicle at another dealer. I used that sight to find my truck. When you talk to a dealer, you need to ask for an inventory manager. Sales managers and GM's do not know what is coming in. The inventory manager has this info by VIN.
