Poorly explain what you do for a living

It can be stressful but its also rewarding. I take pride in being a nuclear operator and hope to retire from this industry in many years.

 

Nuclear is the past and the future in my opinion. I just wish INPO would do a positive PR campaign so people are educated on the safe/clean nuclear practices versus the uneducated news outlets pushing negative press.

I'm in hydro generation, very rewarding.
We're slowly getting coal guys make the transition to our hydro, before they are forced out.

 

Currently unemployed, in a year, I'll be chronically unemployed. Some people would call it "retired", but I like the way chronically unemployed sounds. In the words of the late great philosopher, Mr. Charles Daniels "If you don't like the way I'm livin', just leave this long haired country boy alone".

coal power plant operator turned energy production supervisor here. I’m 32 and won’t see retirement at my plant. Hoping to be repositioned elsewhere before the plant shuts down.

 

All I have to do is wake up every morning and then I get paid once a month.

 

Come out west brother, hydro is secure. Positions open all the time, chief operators are making 150k+ out here.

 

8 more years then the boy is out of the house, I’ll be open to live anywhere (except California lol).

I think the plant will be open for about 10 more years. I’m sure politics/politicians, regulations, and state regulatory agencies will dictate the exact retirement dates though.

 

Right on. CA is a hard no, lol.
Just make sure you're not the last guy at the plant.
When the time is right apply at any hydro on the Columbia River, you should be good to go with any generation experience.

 

If configuring an airplane was like choosing a Tundra, then I explain to customers the differences between a SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition and TRD Pro. Then I get told all the reasons why TRD Pros need to be priced cheaper than the SRs.
