I'm on the younger end of the spectrum for this forum, so my first vehicle and first Toyota was this base model 2001 4Runner. Took me every where from elementary school to college and all over the western US. Learned how to weld on that truck, bought my first wheels (TR Beadlocks, still have them on the FJ40), learned suspension stuff and fabricated my own long travel with an angle grinder and flux core welder since I couldn't afford anything in college, met most of my long time friends camping in it, rebuilt the top end in an apartment parking lot under a tarp to keep snow from blowing in when I broke the radiator and overheated the engine. Awesome little truck. Sadly I didn't take good enough care of it, and found other interests and moved on to bigger vehicles and it slowly died until I moved on. Though I bought and fixed up a 98 Limited 4Runner and gave it to my parents to repay them.

Does a Lexus LX450 count? It's practically an 80 series. I wouldn't call it "built," but I sure spent a lot of time under it.
