I was in a fender bender in which my bumper, grill, grill surround all got damaged. Thankfully the other insurance company accepted responsibility even though the other driver still claims its my fault...but I digress.

The truck is at the dealer for repairs, but I'd like to use this as an opportunity to upgrade to TRD pro grill and get color matched bumper caps, grill surround, and bulge surround.

anyone have experience with this? most of the parts I want changed out will have to be replaced becauese they are not repairable. i'd be asking that the parts be replaced with the different parts. would I be responsible for paying the difference between the parts? or would i have to pay for the entire price of the different part?

I've heard of people doing this. The problem is that the TRD Pro grille is on national backorder right now.

@joem1cha3l did this exact thing. Usually you can ask the body shop to swap it and since the Pro grille isn't much more, they'll just do it for you. Otherwise, you can probably pay the small difference. Honestly, they can probably get the Pro Grille from @Roman for less than the SR5 grille from Toyota. And yes, it might be on backorder right now.

I work in the Insurance Industry. You should not have an issue with this. All the labor is the same. At worse, you may need to pay any difference in parts cost. Don't expect the other carrier to pay the difference. Also, they may find aftermarket or used Toyota parts in their estimate of repairs. Depending on where you live, this may or may not be okay. Different states have different guidelines set up when it comes to use of aftermarket or used parts. These are determined by Insurance Departments of each state (don't blame insurance companies, most of them would like one set of rules that apply to all states regardless of what the rules say).
