I need rack and pinion ,transmission fluid change (possible used trans or rebuild a couple )window latches, door handles and a rear bumper. Doesnt leak oil brakes needed all around maybe 2 tires handful of rubber hoses. 213,000 miles low pressure on the gauge (could be gauge motor sounds and performs okay)and could use a new battery. is it worth it? It’s a handme down pickup probobaly need the truck to carry 1000 lbs in bed in the summer no more than 600 lbs in the cab never trailer.Kind of like the ease of loading a van but this truck has a bed low enough to load.I would have to add a camper to be able to compete with the ease of a van.I have a couple of 3/4 ton vans in my area with less issues and lower miles from 4000 to 5000 cash. Will this vehicle handle a little more or should I move up a little in payload? The truck is comfortable and more visually appealing than a van.Let me know a newer truck with a high bed is out of the question

Well....when I bought mine it already had 300,000 plus miles on it, S title, needed brakes and new exhaust system and valve cover seals so...I at least would be be happy to trade trucks with you.

They are great trucks. I tow and haul (up to 1600lbs) regularly. Sounds like you have a bit of work to do on this one, which is good if the price is right. They are easy trucks to repair and can be ridden hard and take the abuse.

i have done everything you mention above minus the door handles & bumper. My truck has 219,xxx on it and I have done all listed and more in the last 5000 miles. I do not regret it one bit. I plan to put a lot more into it.

Just my $.02. I love these first gen tundras.

Curious if the OP kept and repaired it.

These trucks have a real cult following and are incredibly reliable long-term. At 200k miles, that truck is not even at half-life. For the price of a reliable replacement with similar abilities, I hope he just did the repairs. Kept maintained, these trucks could theoretically outlast their owners... Figure driving for truck duties, 10k miles per year, a 500k truck will last 50 years!

Check the link in post #6. I said about the same thing, and here I am almost 3 years later.
