    Hello.

2007 that has a stuck tailgate. WAIT! This is not like all the other posts. I was trying to replace the plastic holders on the metal rods that go to the latch in the corner. Somehow on both latches I ended up turning the 90 degree latch and now they are sprung. Now the 90 degree thing just turns.

Is there a way to release the latches on the tundra tailgate without the metal rods pulling on the 90 degree thingy? Is there a release point you can stick a screw driver in that will release the latch?

    Thanks for any insight.

If I understand your dilemma, you will need to remove the tailgate cover from the inside of the bed. This will let you access the rods that trip the latches on either side.

@jbrnigan is right, while the tailgate is closed, open the cover while you're standing/sitting inside the bed, if you pull on the two rods, it should release the latches on either side causing the tailgate to fall down
