    :annoyed:

It looks like I am headed to a tire shop this afternoon to see if this is patchable. The tread is decent but the tires are old. I'm going to wager the tire is toast and they want to sell me a new set.

Sorry, that is not repairable. Can plug the tread, not anything on the sidewall or within an inch or so from sidewall.

If that was my tire I'd plug it without another thought. Still sucks though

No way that's repairable. I had this happen in the actual tread of the tire shortly after putting on new tires, and DT said I'd have to buy a new one.

Thanks for the input, folks. It looks like I will give the "new" grabber ATX a shot.

Sorry to hear it and good luck. Hopefully you can get a Memorial Day deal.

I am hoping to hear more from people who try the Cooper Discovery Rugged Trek before I have to buy new tires

I'd be seeking another opinion, cuz I would definitely plug that dude and run it. Plugged many of borderline sidewall/tread tires, moved em to the rear and never had one come apart.

All I did was unscrew the screw and keep going. It’s still holding air...

Apparently you have never seen the outcome of a blown tire at 65+.

I am not going to willingly put my family or others in danger with a janky tire

Yep had a left rear blow at over 90 mph I 40 west into New Mexico just West of Texas line on the big hill there. Was Summer and about 8PM Ford F150 loaded. Figure the road was super hot from baking in the Sun all day. Had a little bit of fender damage and that's about it. Don't panic is the key to handling a blow out. Any tire can blow anytime, key is don't panic and get off the road safely to put on the spare. I have driven well over 2.5 million miles in my lifetime, had only three blown tires, two were at about 60 in six lane traffic. No big deal, never ruined any rims either.
