I'm pretty sure you'll find your missing 10mpg or so when you get the contaminants out of the paint. To much wind drag. It's like that guy with the subaru that drives around with the basket on top.

The 350 is good. The 2.5 in the IS was terrible. But the 3.5 is a pretty good motor sans timing cover leaks and occasional injector
    Driver issues

Thoughts? Lol I saw this at the local Raben when I got my truck "aligned."

Perfect. I'll be looking to replace the faded headlights anyways.

Not sure if I want to tie the light bar into the high beams like my truck or run a seperate switch. Guess it depends on how easy the interior comes apart.

Man I love these cars. When I met my wife she had an 06. I fixed a few things on it and mostly just cleaned the interior cause it was a pig sty. Horrible! lol. We had to reconcile that real quick, I hate a dirty car! We sold it a while back to a family friend who really needed a car for $2500. It had 195k or so on it. She's still driving it, not sure how many miles on it now. In the time I worked on it the issues I had were the damn serpentine belt tensioner going bad every year or so. Probably cause I never sprang for an oe unit. Changed the starter. Replaced a dead blower motor. Replaced an intermittent ac relay. Did some maintenance things like brakes. Shocks and struts. My wife took care of it but it had been in a couple fender benders, had had some water in it at one point, not totally flooded but high enough to get water in the floor boards and of course it was dirty. I wouldn't say she was meticulous with maintenance but she did change the oil. It was SORTED when we sold it. New owner drives it all over with confidence and loves it. Its just one of those older Toyotas that will never die. It was also stupid easy to work on, and parts were easy to come by.

@empty_lord can you confirm that these are the "s" headlights?

I think the links I have posted below are without bulbs, but unfortunately I can't see much detail on mobile.

    Right headlight housing
    Left headlight housing

Also, what would I need to add foglights?
Here's what my brain came up with, but asking to confirm.
    Fog housings.
    Brackets?
    Relay.
Stalk switch? Or buttons for fogs?

    Also, thank you @des2mtn!
I've skimmed about a minute of the video. Seems to be good quality, and informative based on subtitles because you can't hear a damn thing at work.

I'll watch more over next break, and add this post to my corolla thread if it's cool with you?

I’ll have to check when I’m home.

Fogs just need the assemblies if i remember right. Check if your cars got the wires tucked up behind the bumper, if they are there you just need the stalk

I ordered enough neowedges to try both white, and green colors in the dash to see which I like better.

Red for the hazard lights button...
Green/White for everything else. Most of the Neowedges I ordered are on back order. Shame.

    There are rears.
For a daily beater, save the money buy the rubber lines.

If you want a legit brake upgrade, XRS corollas of that vintage had rear disc brakes. The conversion stuff pops up on eBay once in a while. Totally worth it for the fact that those god awful drums suck to replace shoes on.

Good point here. I'm just excited to have something new to tinker on. LOL.

I'll keep this in mind after I inspect the rear shoes to see how much life they have left. If within a year or two of replacement I'll start looking through flea-bay for deals.

    Confirmation of headlights posted earlier?

@empty_lord I may require your guidance sooner than later.
    20210526_050218.jpg

81.6 miles since last fill up, and the fuel needle hasn't moved a hair. I refuse to believe it's sipping so little gas. Even at 40 mpg that's still two gallons. I figured I'd see that on the needle.

    Thoughts?

I think one of the toyota records said that it was recommended to change the filler neck, but was denied by previous owner.

It did this when I first bought it, but I was on the parkway with the cruise set. I figured it was just normal then. Maybe I'm just too used to the trucks mileage. Lol

So I looked at these on the work pewter. These are S Headlights best I can tell.

What's the difference between the S and regular headlights?

I pulled up TYC on the Pewter. Igave a quick eyeball, and then big brothered LE, CE, and S headlights. They all look the same to me. I'm inclined to go with TYC as there are over $300 in savings to be had using them.

Less chrome in the housing. Well darker chrome. They just look less “cheap” and they’re like the same price

Oh okay. So it's an esthetic upgrade, not a performance upgrade. I was looking at the reflectors going "WTF they look the same!"

Well in that case... is anyone good with photoshop? :D

IF you can swing OEM housings, the aftermarkets I tried all sucked when it came to beam pattern.
Oems with 9012 lows and 9011 highs will probably put perform your tundras lights. Do 9012s in the fog lights and be the damn sun.

I'll wait for payday then. I know I tried several cheap housings on the Tundra due to deer impacts. I could tell the difference between cheap, and OEM for sure. Guessing your recommendation for fogs will be OEM also?

If I have the wiring for it. I'll have to investigate when I get home. I know the Tundras was bundled up on one of the wire support clip tab things behind the bumper when I put those on in 2018-ish?

Used OEM for the fogs. New is stupid expensive. Just get decent used ones, restore them and profit. The headlights oem aren’t too bad $$$ wise.

I'll see if I can find any at a junkyard willing to ship if nothing local can be had. Plastic has never been my friend so it will be interesting to try my hand at headlight restoration providing wiring is present.
Yes indeed. I've followed some of his threads, and have always been real impressed with his posts. Much like I have with you, but you're around the 1st gens more is all.

i follow his truck closely. LOL when a supercharged tundra comes into the shop im the one that works on them. I WILL own a 2nd gen reg cab short bed with an AWD case and blower one day.

Or make use of the promod turbo i have sitting brand new in a box in my basement (fun fact, precision turbo is local to me.. i did work for one of the owners and was paid with a stupid expensive turbo)
