Hello all. First post here. I just recently got a 2018 Tundra Limited. I noticed a significant decrease in sound quality from my previous Ford’s Bluetooth speaker when using the wireless phone feature. I’m not sure if this is just poor quality or if I have an issue. I typically have to have my volume turned up to 57+ to hear the person on the other line. Is this common or should I have this looked at? I’ve had the truck for about a month.

Make sure your phone volume is turned all the way up. I had bluetooth volume issue when playing music and found i needed to max out bt phone volume to correct it.

I have the same problem in my Tundra and 2017 Camry. Currently have iPhone 8. My 2014 Camry sucked as well when it came to taking calls over Bluetooth.

My 2018 was absolutely terrible. I couldn’t make out what anyone was saying. I switch to a kenwood head unit and it’s great now. Definitely something to do with Toyota’s head unit.

Agree, generally the phone volume is low. I rocked today with phone calls and audio book for my 7 hour road trip today.

iPhone? Settings... music... volume limit turned to off. This helped me. Still not the greatest but much better.

I think they did quite the overhaul for 2018 on the Camry compared to 2017.

Thanks everyone! I have an iPhone 8... sounds like possible compatibility issue with Apple? I’ll work on the pictures.

Working on killing the chrome... options are limited on the grille for now due to the front censor.

I have the same truck: I had to turn my phone volume up; after that, no problem. Everything is clear and easy to hear.

Yea. I’ve done that, I guess is just a different quality than I’m used to. I had an Explorer as a work vehicle for about 8 yrs and they use the entire speaker system for the Bluetooth, not just 2 small speakers like the Tundra. Thanks for your feedback!

Do you have the chrome grille too? Trying to find a color match option that will allow me to keep the sensor.

I kind of like the chrome right now, although I am eventually going to black out my grill, bumpers, door handles, mirrors, and add black badges.

I am debating the best way to do this. My brother says to wrap them [because it's reversible].

I totally concur. My 2010 Tundra was good. My 2015 is VERY BAD! I was in a F150 the other day when a guy took a call and it was crystal clear. My blood pressure went up.

I found the forum and this thread while searching in disgust for help with this same issue. I just purchased this 2018 tundra 1794and sure am missing my 2014 Ford platinum!!

for a trim package with an alleged premium sound system, this is embarrassing! I have wireless mini Bluetooth speakers that can play louder than this junk. And the Bluetooth hands free is a joke! Why doesn’t it just transmit the phone conversation through the marginal sound system instead of the lousy single speaker in the dash? Phone conversations sound like you’re talking through two vegetable cans attached with 100’ string. Majorly disappointed in my first Toyota experience, in fact if I had realized this beforehand I wouldn’t have purchased the truck.

So what’s the fix? Gotta replace the head unit?
