Early 1zz engines are notorious for it. 03 some do. But by 04-05 the burning issues were almost gone.

it's new., I know this... it's an 03 that's why I mention it.. it may have oil consumption issues.. if he got the revised one he wont.. I thought I didn't have oil burning issues with an 02 my cat begged to differ as it was caked with oil, and had a p0420 code for 5 years. Before I replaced my cat

This is what the link pulls up. Looks like it is wood grain.

I am glad your keeping the wood grain, Metal on the outside, nice warm wood on the inside.

Good deal. Thank you Adam! That was the part number I got off the trim piece. I assumed it was correct, but who knows what kind of revisions have been made through the years to the online stuffs.

:) I've never had wood grain, and actually don't mind it. I'm surprised by myself. I've always been pretty utilitarian, and plain about interiors.

Also, I think it was @912 or maybe @Hi06silver that swapped everything to wood grain in their double cab. They discovered that there was two wood grains. A darker one, and a lighter one. Hopefully I get a matching unit when I order it.

So last night when I had the HVAC bezel out investigating the bulb situation I completely removed that broken door as seen in post 18.

Suits me just fine as cost savings. Makes a good phone holder too.

I'm a completely legal beagle now! No more temp tag! Full on plate.

Old rusty screws were fubar, and rounded. Left one came out with ease. Right one broke my screwdriver. Stud remnants seen below.
    20210524_123956.jpg

Reached for the extractor set, and drilled a left handed bit right down the middle of the bolt. The head broke off when using my extractors. Reached for channel locks to grab onto the stud on the inside as seen above and turn it out. I drilled too far into the bolt, and it just snapped off leaving a small amount of bolt in the threaded hole. I Reached for my regular 3/16 drill bit, and drilled very slowly forward. I was able to walk the bolt piece out, and forward into the trunk! Big win! Thank you pops for teaching me some of your ways.

Here's what was left of that bolt.
    20210524_124653.jpg
    20210524_124647.jpg

I went inside, and grabbed my trusty bolt box.
    20210524_125116.jpg
    20210524_125123.jpg

Found two M6 stainless steel bolts with washers, and lock washers. Saved me a trip to the store!

I decided to reuse my silicone license plate frame from my Tundra because I had to take it off when I installed my VLEDs reverse light.
    20210524_125425.jpg

As I said earlier! Legal Beagle!

Paid little brother $20 to windex the inside, and outside of the front/rear windows.

After my nap I'll see how good of a job he did.

Oh yea. The non VVTI motors will burn like 2 quarts in 500 miles... 98-02 are horrible for it. The switch to VVTI has the piston redesign. 03 was the first

I think the engine cover does say VVTI... I'm not that familiar with it like I am the Tundra. Lol

It does. The new body like yours has it. The oil burners also had metal intake manifolds that look like headers lol

That may be me you're thinking of. I did fin that there were a couple shades of wood when I swapped it all into my DC (because I'm a product of the 90s and I love it )

Nice Corolla! I'm considering a commuter myself...

Well the better maintained one would be the 09. But that ones staying. I like the red one. BUT I replaced the engine in the blue one. So I’ll be keeping that one around. I know it better lol

Honesty goes a long way! With me anyways.

I noticed the corolla I have doesn't have any door lights. Any wires in the door to add an LED light strip like I did on the Tundra or @Professional Hand Model did on his?

I'd rather not run wires through the door if there's already something there that's easy to get to. Should let me glue the leather down too that's coming up by the window seal.

Does the interior light come on when you unlock it with the fob?

I may do an LED strip underneath tied into that. That'd be cool as hell for it to fade away.

When I finally get some door panels for the tundra I’m considering some dim pocket lights... so you can see what’s in the door pockets. I think it may be a winner. But time will tell

I'd be interested in a write up on that for both vehicles.

I'll have to investigate when I go to lunch tonight, but I'd assume so as the older tundra does it.

@empty_lord if I can find a corolla at a junkyard near by I may go investigate possible items just for the hell of it.

Anything I need to keep an eye out for that's known to break? Interior/exterior, etc...
Anything you need that you want me to look for?

Filled up last night at 122 miles since last fill up. 6 gallons. 122 divided by 6 equals 20.3 mpg. Kinda underwhelmed, but I did drive around town a lot yesterday. Hopeful that the hour commute will help improve, and that it's not an indication of something wrong.

Could be me learning a new car too I suppose. :D
