    Hi all,

I have a 2000 Tundra V8 with 240k. New timing belt, water pump among a host of other things....I have a crank no start issue. There was no warning, truck was running fine although I was low on fuel one day and stopped at a friends place and parked on a slight slope. Went to start it up, it started then sputtered out. Checked fuses and relays and all seem fine, replaced fuel pump and still won't start. Tried starter fluid in manifold and it fires up. So it seems it's not getting fuel to the engine.

What should I check? I miss driving this thing and need to get it fixed!!

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Check the wires to the crank position sensor, it's possible the belt has started rub into the wires and caused issues if they weren't secured properly after the timing belt/water pump job.

Well pulled the CPS and sure enough the wire insulation was cracked exposing some bare wires. Doesn't look like it was from rubbing, cracked within 1/4" of the plug!! Anyone have a part number for this?

What brand of fuel pump is the new one you had just replaced? Stick with Toyota oem or denso

Have you pulled the fuel rail recently?

I'd get a stethoscope and listen if your injectors are firing. If they are then pull one and put it in a cup and try to start the truck. See if it's squirting fuel.

It's not oem, but after researching I will be ordering an oem.

    Never pulled the fuel rail.

So here is what me and a buddy found yesterday...dropped the fuel tank to bench test the pump, ran power to the pump and gas came spitting out of the fuel tank. Checked fuel lines
and they are all clear. Checked voltage at the fuel tank harness while cranking reads only 9-10 volts, plugged it back into fuel tank with hoses disconnected. Cranked engine and no fuel
coming out of hose. Should I be getting more voltage at the harness? oh, we also bypassed the resistor just to check and voltage was still around 9-10 volts.

I have tried 2 different ECU's and still a no go. I'm running out of ideas, anyone got some suggestions? Yellow wire trick? lmk TIA!

Sounds like you got corrosion in the wiring somewhere.

What is the yellow wire trick? Curious. Same thing happened with my brothers ranger and it was the fuel pump relay. And the fuel pump itself, after using a jumper wire for a few weeks.

Open up the fuse box in the engine compartment and take the yellow wire under the C/OPN relay and ground it to the chasis. If it works after grounding then the ecm is bad I believe.
