I have had both in the past. Larger lift looks better. Smaller tires drive a bit better. If you were looking to buy a used Tundra would you prefer 3/1 with 295/75/20 or 6” lift with 35/12.5/20?

I would prefer a 6” lift with 35” tires. Just my personal taste. I love a big lift.

3/1 with 35" on 18 or 17"s..lower center of gravity but still plenty of clearance off road.

3/1 every time. I’m only running 33‘s, but I do love the way a large tire looks on a small lift. I remember an article in four wheel magazine I think, probably 20 years ago, it was a brand new Jeep that somebody was able to fit 37‘s or 40’s on, just tube fenders and maybe a 3” lift. I thought that looked so slick. All the suspension was in the droop, but it flexed so nicely.

So from then on out, knowing that I can fit a bigger tire on a smaller lift, makes any lift that is more than needed, seem unnecessary to me. I like when a tire could stuff way up inside a fender without rubbing anything, or maybe the slightest amount of rub upon full stuff! The perfect amount of clearance, along with skid plates and sliders, makes for a perfect rig in my eyes.

But that’s just me, not knocking anyone that sees it differently.

If those are my two options then I would go with 3/1 on 34.5. It's much more versatile with options ranging from as little as $200 for spacer blocks to $3000 or more for an all out rock crawler or desert runner setup. It's also very easily reversible in case you want to change it back to stock. If you go with a 6 inch lift, it's a lot harder to reverse because you have to cut the factory crossmember. There's only one 6 inch lift for the 2nd and 3rd gen 4wd that doesn't involve cutting the crossmember.

I personally have the readylift 4/2 on 285/65r20 (34.6x11.5) tires. That lift doesn't require any cutting at all.

You see I have a 3/1 pro Comp right now as I bought the truck off a guy who did a lot of mods. Bought it at just the right time. 44k miles and 39k cash money. I’m coming from a pro Comp stage 2 6” lift with 35” KM3 tires. So my debate is whether I spend money to remove this lift he paid 1000 for with install/alignment or just stick with it and go 34.5” tires or fork up $2k for the rough country full coil over 6” lift. Install will be another $800 so $2800 OTD. Or spend that coin on Katskinz football color possibly degreez and then JL stealth box like I had in my old truck with focals up front.

if you go 6in you should go with 37s. 35s will look small. Here is my setup

Sorry still no real photos just a couple point and shoot which I hate. I still don't have new measurements either I am failing royal. Life has been crazy the last 4 weeks. but here are a couple. No issues with any sensors, my lane departure works fine, my cruise control and vehicle sensors work. The truck works as if it was never touched. I no longer have a chrome front bumper and I now also have paint matched mirrors

This is my favorite tundra look. It has that “tough” look. Not to tall not to short. Kinda the bulldog stance. Plus in quicksand with no chrome. Bumpers match up perfectly. Very nice truck man

    Gonna throw my 2¢ in here. I went with a 3.5” lift and 275/65r20 (34x11) on stock tss wheels for my 16. But.... on my 08 I ran a 3/2 on 295/70r18 (34.5 x 11.75).

If you didn’t mount the tires yet you can swap them. Definitely go 305/55/20 at minimum

35x12.5, 9,000 and yes I do like them better than the ridge grapplers from nitto.

6" with 37's would be my choice

    7 inch lift
7 inch pro comp lift for the last 3 years. Love it. Would do it again. Only thing I would do different is buy 37’s. I bought 35’s. To small.

Nice ride! I like the subtle TRD in place of the SR5 badges. Where did you get them?
