Don't the on truck rotor turning avoid the runout issue that can happen with off truck rotor cutting?

You and I share more than just our service to the DoD - I too cannot handle shaky braking myself!

Didn't quite understand your question. I had runout. I can't say if the lugs were overtightened, or it was heat. It wasn't rust (California valley). Rotors were OEM and never turned so I doubt it was variable thickness. If I had to guess...and it's a big one, I'd say heat. One bad tech though and it's all about overtorqueing.... from tire stores to dealers wanting to balance with an oil change, it may have happened and my heat theory goes out the window.

Nothing will fix this as it will wobble so to speak... Until fixed (cut) or replaced. Either way, irregardless of how new your pads are, your buying new ones once you cut the existing rotors or replace them.

The metal on metal of brakes won't force balance them. Brakes bed in...but that's a different situation with new pads and a true rotor.

    I'm not a mechanic...but I hope that helps.

You got an incredible deal if they replaced the rotors as they are $100 each from Toyota with discount. Throw in pads and they were lucky to break even on parts.

Yeah, rotors and pads at Toyota cost would be $400 or so.

My rig is in this morning to get new, matching TRD pads on the rear. I did the front in January with TRD pads. Now, they screwed up and the pads are on back order (nationally until late June...) but it'll be interesting to see what they recommend about my rotors since I'm at 70760 miles.
