Just checking...Limited is just an SR5 with more options, right?

I'm shopping for newer year models and prices are all over the place. I found a '18 with 13K miles for $44K, but other dealers are asking more for SR5s with more miles. I know there's a lot involved with pricing, but I figured I'd ask anyway:

So, just making sure. An SR5 and Limited of same year have same suspension, axel ratio, suspension, etc, correct?

I think you also get LED headlights with the limited in '18. At least you do with the limited trd offroad package that year. Prices are crazy, good luck OP!

There is very little difference aside from appearance and interior appointments/conveniences from the SR5 to the 1794. We have a grand total of two cab configurations and one whole drivetrain. The barest of bare bones trims (SR and SR5 w/out upgrade package) have 6 seats and a small fuel tank. Otherwise, we're all in 5-seaters with a 38gal tank.

Different shades of lipstick. Same awesome pig.

PS: my SR5 has dual climate and the same LED headlights as the Pro due to the TRD Off Road package.
But I also got these sweet cloth seats that are never too hot or too cold. :headbang:

You can get dual climate control with the SR5 as well; I think it comes with the convenience package. I've got it.

Price wise you may come out better buying a brand new one. Around here prices for an 18 and 19 are higher than what I paid for my 2020.

For 2018 - correct. A few nice things to have.

Mileage is very low and 2018 saw a minor refresh of interior.

Correct me if I’m wrong - but major differences between a 2018 Limited and 2020-21 are gonna be Apple CarPlay on stock radio. Limited had push button in 18 correct and keyless entry ?

44k - to me it’s not a “bad” price - but a 2021 is gonna sticker at 52-54. 10k is not pocket change - but moves you up 4 years in models. 10k over 66/72 month near a 48 month loan on a 2018 likely.

OP knows what fits need/budget best - just food for thought. You won’t be missing much buying an 18.

NOTE; Limited does not come with memory driver seat. So if two people drive the truck it a PIA to always be adjusting the seat. Just an FYI

The Limited also gets a power rear window. Not sure if you're talking Double Cab or Crew Max, but in the PNW a new Double Cab Limited is around $48-49K, add $2K for the Crew Max. The 2018 will have a Transmission Fluid Cooler though :).

Local dealer here has a 2021 2WD SR5 TSS with SR5 upgrade package for $46k. Skyline silver color. It has less than 3,000 miles. Perfect condition...I know because it use to be my truck! Also has safe, spray in bed liner, cargo lights and aftermarket installed XPel clear bra on front, including head lamps. 2WD is probably a deal breaker for most here.

All great except 2WD. The TSS is also a very expensive decal package. I would try to find a limited at anything above 45K

Agree about the TSS. So this is off topic...but oh well. I bought my first Tundra last December...the one in the link above. I knew I wanted a Tundra, did not want leather or 4WD and that one fit the bill..especially the three big knobs for the HVAC. I really liked it compared to the lifted truck I test drove so I struck a very good deal. Frankly I was pretty ignorant to all the option packages, etc. and through 5 months of ownership, reading this forum, and watching many YouTube videos after the fact, I pretty much resigned myself to living with the TSS. I was planning to change out the rims/tires to something more for the highway and easier to clean, install a rear sway bar and then work on deleting the chrome. But then the trade values skyrocketed and I was able to work a pretty good deal on a TRD Sport..which has all the stuff I was likely going to do to the TSS. And yeah, I have to admit the HVAC controls in the TRD are not that bad! Knowing what I know now, what I like, how the truck rides beyond a couple miles of test driving, etc, I knew the TRD Sport would make me much happier. How I wish they had some in inventory back in December...but glad it all worked out. But back to your point...that $4995 MSRP for the TSS package has to be one of the most overpriced useless packages Toyota sells (no wonder I was able to work a nice discount!). By comparison the TRD Sport package is $2700 MSRP.

I’m almost certain you came out ahead getting the sport. It’s pricey swapping out all the chrome parts. I bought my 20 TSS dec 19 and the sticker was 47k before the 2,500 BS dealer addendum and I paid 38,600 for it. Crazy how prices have skyrocketed….

The TSS cosmetic package on my 2014 was a waste of money.
The only thing I have left that was part of that package is the wheels.
Everything else has been replaced or removed...

Push start and smart entry is on 2020s and up only. i bought my 19' in July and was pretty pissed when the 2020s were announced a month later.

yeah getting a new one around me, is cheaper than some of the used ones. Plus for the 2020 - 21 if you get the limited package, you get push start, smart door handles, car play. i have just the regular SR5 with the upgraded packaged but it saved me like 7 grand to not get the limited trim.

Since the 4.6 is no longer available, Pretty much all of the Tundras have the same running gear with the exception of the TRD Pro.

The TRD PRO doesn't have anything that is mechanically different than any other Tundra. They get upgraded shocks and the rest is all cosmetics. No change in drivetrain or gearing.

Go try to find an SR long bed from a dealer's inventory - like this one I found on the lot, low ball an offer to save $$$.

Then use all that saved cash to add wheels, tires, lift, air suspension, side steps, TRD sways, LEDs inside and out, Kenwood head unit with CarPlay, sub, all weather mats, extended mirrors and an A-pillar handle for this!

Why not wait a bit for prices to drop after the chip shortage is resolved? The 2022’s should bring the price down as well once released.

Of course I understand that when you are ready to buy, you want it now.

Looking at a 2021 Tundra Limited, it has a push button start. In my experience with vehicals with push start they all have the engine shutoff when say at stop light/sign that sort of thing. Is that true with the TRD's with push button start?

My wife has a 2020 limited 4Runner with the push start and it does not shut off at a light or anything. Only time it shuts off is if we tell it to

Not all push button starts have the engine shut off. Had a WRX that didn't do that. Anyway, the answer is No. No Tundra to date has ever had to engine shutoff crap in it.
