I have always wanted a 3" 686+. They just don't come up in my area.

My GP100 is a 4 inch 7 shot with the fiber optic front sight. An absolute dream to shoot! Even my 8yo son can shoot it with .38spl ammo.

I wanted a 686 plus deluxe with the 3 inch barrel and wood grips but they all have the lock. Not a fan of that. Here's a stock photo of said gun...

Having never owned a revolver without the stupid lock, what are the detriments of one compared to a non-lock version?

I remember reading somewhere after they were first released the lock could engage itself when firing magnum loads causing the action to lock up. Now with that said I don't have hard evidence and this was from the internet. There is a company that makes a lock delete kit but don't remember off the top of my head.

My dad gifted me a brand new model 63-3 back in 1998. Inside the box were papers to send it in and get it engraved. Unfortunately that never happened. Thanks for reminding me

G21 has the black internals, I see no reason to replace them..

You picked one of the best models! Good thing is if you don't like it you can easily unload on the next person.

I did a thing today. I bought a Tisas Commander length 1911 .45. It's hot Novak sights, ambidextrous safety, beaver tail safety and, unlike my Rock Island Armory GI model 1911...no rattles. IMG_20210521_193540305.jpg IMG_20210521_193519270.jpg

Just me talkin here but, I firmly believe that if any sort of civil war broke out, it would be classic urban warfare.
Rifles have a little window in which they would be preferred.
Handguns and shotguns would be the preferred weapon in most conflicts where defense and close in fighting happen.

A light weight AR SBR is also a good choice... for me the .357 magnum has all the stopping power you would need for a handgun but I understand why a 9mm with 18 or 19 rds can be very effective especially with +p defense ammo. Shotguns are very effective at close range for sure. I have my eye on a 1301 tactical.

    This is my edc.

I like the 45 ACP personally but, I have 9mms for concealed carry.
Wife can handle the 9mm nicely and that's important to me.
I've taught her how to handle the Kel Tec in house confines if it ever came to that.
Shorty loads pump nicely thru this gun and the kick to her is acceptable with no flinching.

And to think in Dec 2019, distributors had them on sale for $2500 dealer price...and I turned them down...we discussed buying 3 or 4 of them

If it ever gets back to that I am in... could you imagine having 100,000 rds for the next crisis. I still have plenty but I definitely wasn't able to practice like I normally would.
