I was told that Toyota is currently reflashing 2018 Sienna and Camry systems from Entune to Apple Car play. I did some internet searches and found that this is true. There is no word on the Tundra, however 2020 Tundras are coming out with it. I am hoping that Toyota will also extend the reflash to Tundras as well at that time. I despise the Entune system more then anything. Anyone have any information on this?

If the hardware supports the re-flash, I don't understand why Toyota would not provide it. It is expensive for Toyota to support the proprietary Entune software.

I think those models have Entune 3.0 which we don’t. But I could be wrong.

    Don’t the 19s have Entune 3.0?

Apple/android play refresh on the 2020 model year for the Tundra, Tacoma sienna, and 4runner has been floating around the internet for quite some time now.

    Some been already out

The 2020 4runner already has it shown here https://www.autoblog.com/2019/07/25...eview-specs-impressions-photos/#slide-2155580
the 2020 Tacoma also has it now.. shown here https://www.autoblog.com/2019/07/23/2020-toyota-tacoma-pickup-truck-review/#slide-2155235

its a matter of time before we start seeing picture for the 2020 tundra with car play may be in next 30 to 60 days.

I am just can't phantom the subscription idea that been floating around also. The supra will have 4 years of free car play and paid subscription thereafter.
The BMW Z4 ( The supra counter part) will have the subscription from the get go. No other brands require subscription and

No chance for pre 2020 Tundra, they're Entune 2.0 units from like 2012

The Supra uses BMW idrive so it's going to be unique in the lineup

I did mine on my 2018 camry. took 45 min. I have entunes 3.0 w/ jbl. It depends on the head unit manufacturer. hopefully they do the same for the Tundra. Carplay is very convenient .

For that price, I might as well get a Pioneer, Kenwood, or other high end unit that does Android and Apple. Plus it will sound better.

Is that because the Tundra doesn’t have Apple car play til 2020 comes out? Or they just won’t offer it even then.

If it is like 99% of all other electronic devices, you likely just bricked your HU, meaning you effectively turned it into a brick. You can take it to the dealership to see if they can recover it, but I doubt they will be able to.

There is a reason for that message, though in my opinion, it should explain the dire consequences of not following the instructions much more clearly.
