Putting this here since it is somewhat related to toppers, etc. Mods please move if needed.

Have a Yakima cargo box that has developed some issues on the finish. Yakima said to use an epoxy compatible with ABS. Anyone have any ideas what type of epoxy that would be? Hoping to sand with 400 grit to remove the loose stuff, then seal the area.

my buddy had a similar issue on his Thule cargo box he uses on his Tahoe.

He took the top off (pain in the ass, a ton of rivets that need to be drilled out and reinstalled) and brought it to a local body shop.

They were able to strip it, prep it and paint it back to spec.

They did offer him the option of matching his Tahoe’s paint code and spraying that. He did, and the now cherry red carrier looks sweet on his truck.

Long winded.. but consider that you might have some additional options.

Looks like some good products. Any specific one from them you have used?

I’ve thought of having it painted. Also was looking to see if a wrap could be done but at the end of day not sure I want to spend that kind of money.

I used the sandable epoxy for crack repair.
For your application I’d call them or email. If it’s just a clear coat issue, you can tape off, sand and spray with a. Quality uV clear. But if you want it pristine and factory finish, don’t for that route.
