Yep, I checked this before and after purchasing....I believe my car build date falls outside the recall range. The recall (if it will ever apply to my car in the future) will be fine by me, a new clutch and pressure plate?....hey why not lol. They had one rare instance of the clutch catching fire, but I am a bit suspicious of that case. All cars have recalls, heck my moms Lexus NX200t just got a recall notice for a complete fuel pump assembly to avoid potential car stalling and causing accidents. It’s just how cars are now. This is why I love my MKIV Supra....it’s built like a tank!

The exhaust looks odd in that one pic, but it’s the OEM exhaust. Looks kinda goofy in that one shot :p.

The 4dr jeeps just look wrong - and made worse by the brute kits to try and make it into a 'truck.' Something special about hopping on the rear tire to get in the back seat versus having a door for the passengers.

I don't think I'd buy a Jeep after the TJ years. Worked on a lot of TJs, and they're pretty solid - even the 4cyls - but it's been downhill since then on quality and reliability. I've got a CJ7, and it follows the mantra of replace it when it breaks on the trail. The post-TJ+ years all seem to be replace it when it just magically stops working or falls apart.

Tundras are definitely not optimal for Rock crawling so by the sounds of it your new ride will be more geared towards your needs.

For sure, the Tundra was alot more comfortable around town...like riding on air. The Jeep is...well....a Jeep! A front and rear solid axle car will ride “rougher” than an IFS car. Off road though....the Jeep does not stop!

I don't know why but I've always liked that fat, single out, rolled tip OEM exhaust on those Supras.

I had a JKU, but I think the proportions of the 2 door look just right. Good purchase to the OP, it's definitely the better vehicle for trail running compared to the Tundra. I'm a little surprised that they're $55K though, man the prices have really jumped up there!

The only jeep I have ever owned and ever will own. It was fun back then, I enjoyed it yes, but damn what a money pit. 1979 CJ5 Jeep 304 V8, there were 4 master cylinders for that year model btw. HA finding one was a mission, carb rebuild kit same way. Only paid $1200 for it, by the time I got home it had hit me for new tires and a battery. Things just went from there, every time I looked at it BAM $100 or more.

That’s the fun part of owning a Jeep! If shit breaks, throw stronger shit in it. I mean, most of us buy cars in general to customize them anyways….Jeep’s just push you to do it sooner :p.

i know Jeeps are great, too, but he paid $500 to drive his truck 9k miles (paid 59k OTD; sold for 58.5k a year later). Would a Jeep do better than that?

Lol! Yes! My 94’ T4R reminded me of this. Great rig, drove that thing to 440k miles with just oil, brakes, and tire changes. Sold it for $1k more than I paid for it.

Now if I could only get my hands on a Marty McFly BTTF Toyota 4x4…I could die a happy man.

I did the Jeep thing several years ago when the TJs came out the thing was a tank never got it stuck and would go anywhere gas mileage sucked due to the lower gears but off road it was a beast but since I’d had trucks my entire life I missed that bed. I never realized how much I used the bed of the truck until it was gone. Good luck with it they are a blast off road.

The dash came from the factory warped and not symmetrically installed along the windshield. The outside windshield cowl didn’t sit flush with the windshield, allowing water to get in between. The moldings that ran down the roof on both sides were uneven. The interior plastics didn’t lineup in several places; shifter tunnel, door cards, and a-pillar covers. These things weren’t deal breakers, but again, for a $60k Toyota, they should have paid more attention to these things.
