Oh, before I left the trail I had an encounter with a coyote, and two deer.

Both at seperate times.

I had stood up on the pedals, and was picking up some speed. I mean zooming just like how I used to do. Nyoooom! About 50 yard in front of me the coyote came out of the thicket, and stopped on the trail.

He looked around, and then saw me. He jumped like I'd spooked the ever living shjt out of him, and then he took off into the road.

The deer were just hanging out by the truck. Probably wanting to get some side swipe action going on, but I rolled up before they could do any harm.

 

Same, they also come with a lifetime warranty so if anything happens it’s a quick swap

 

I guess it depends on who is working graveyard shift at the local PD.

Couldn't hear the LEO, but do you seriously have a curfew?! That's reason enough to get the hell outta there.

 

Here's the stenographer report.

Me: "How's it going?"

LEO: "Was that you bike riding?"

Me: "Yeah"

LEO: "I didn't know who that was back there, but I was like somebody's bike riding."

Me: "Yeah, that's me. I, uh... I work thirds, and I need something to do when everybody else is asleep."

LEO: "I gotcha man."

Me: "Keeps me out of everybody else's hair."

LEO: "Be careful man, some other police officers, this is supposed to be shut down at dark."

Me: "Oh, okay."

LEO: "I don't care if you ride, but others one... might."

Me: "Oh, okay. Well..."

LEO: "At least you're out exercising and shit but uh...

Me: laughs

LEO: "I mean, have a good night man."


We don't have a curfew per se, but Yeah. Bummed.

I certainly could, but the paved trail is 25 feet from the road.


It's like that for about ¾ of a mile while you raise above the roadway because it used to be a railroad.

 

Sounds like the parks around here technically "closed" at dusk. Usually no one patrols them but you'll get a scolding if someone happens by.

@Tundra2 Might be worth looking into physical therapy on your feet. Follow the exercises they give you and you may see some improvements.
If $$ is an issue a good one should work with you to come up with a treatment plan for you to do on your own while coming in monthly/quarterly for updates.

 

If they got my name it'd be more than a scolding. Local police family and my family used to feud way back when.

We don't care about some ye olden horse shit, but they do.

Time is the issue for me, but I'll look into it.

It wasn't too bad. But they were trashed anyways. The new ones are garbage too. They have nylon nuts on them. I have a new steering rack and tie rods waiting for me to stop being lazy so I can swap ot all.

 

We hear em all the time at my gf's house. She lives on a somewhat busy street with a speed limit of 45. I usually hear em rap it out in 3rd and think, "wow, that's at least 110". Funny thing is there's a fire station right there too so I guess it wouldn't take long to get there....

 

It's bad. I have so many parts just waiting on me. SHO parts too.

Just a heads up that you can still get free shipping over $75 if you order through the parts program. This is a good deal if you need to order anything heavy like rotors. A few of my local dealers are on here (but not all), it's cheaper to pay online and pickup in person, rather than pay at the counter. The dealers that are close to me which are not listed do not have a way to search/ order parts online and are usually at MSRP prices.

I would just try “parts.<dealer name>.com here. Usually a derivation of the general Toyota website i.e. www.<dealer name>.com. Several of the ones I use aren’t on the master website.

 

Just saved a boatload of money ordering from McGeorge this week.
My greedy ass local dealer won't come a cent off of list price.

 

As long as they are cool about it I actually like that they are paying attention to stuff. Better than giving tickets for mud flaps or tint or setting up a speed trap. Our locals are alright, but one day I got hassled for my temporary plates not being visible and my only thought was... I'm one of the only people that drives the speed limit and stops for stop signs. Get off my ass. Then again they don't really hassle me in my regular vehicle. In assuming they recognize it. They do give me a funny look sometimes when I'm riding at 3am on the bike trail. No hassles, just looks. Fine by me.
My point- at least they are paying attention and now they'll hopefully just wave and keep going when they see you.

 

I've always taken my paper or cardboard temporary plates & mounted them where the plate goes unless the instructions say otherwise. I figure if it melts in the rain or blows away - well that's not my issue (although i do keep the receipt for payment & plate # in the glove as a back-up). My current state seems to have figured out how to give you a metal plate in exchange for taking your money.
