Bilstein 6112 at the highest settings + 1 CB shim on driver side with 5100 in the rear + CB shackles. Riding on Methods 701 285/70 R17

 

Bilstein 6112 on the second setting, General Grabber ATX 275/70r18. I'll likely add a small shackle lift in the back to bring back some rake. I want to get some Coachbuilders, but I'm nervous about fitting a full-size spare with them.

 

Before and after the 6112 top setting/5100, coachbuilder shims(2driver/1pass) and +3 shackles install. 285/75/17 Toyo AT3 on Icon Rebounds. No cutting, rubbing or removal of anything except the front sway bar. Waiting to see if I actually want to put it back on

 

What are those wheels? I have black, I think Im sold

I found some used 18 inch Tundra rims on Craigslist. I’ve always liked the the looks of the 18 inch rims and disliked my platinum rims just as much. I read tire info on this site from 3 a.m. this morning until 6 and decided to try Goodyear’s Ultraterrain AT. It completely changed the look of the truck. I mostly used my truck for pulling my RPod, but as my avatar shows, I ended up on a road less traveled in Idaho this last week that was 30 miles of pavement and 20 of volcanic gravel. I was hoping my 20 inch tires with half the sidewall dragging the ground would hold. They did but as soon as I got home, I found the rims on Craigslist, went and picked them up and called discount tire at 8 a.m. this morning.

 

Nice looking setup. I too ditched the Platinum wheels and went 18”. Glad I did and never looked back.

What size tires did you go with?

 

Just the stock 18 inch size 275/65. I asked for one size bigger all around but they didn’t have those in stock. Patience is not a strong suit!

 

Now, if I could just get the wife to quit loving the nerf steps that make it easy for her to get in the truck and make my eyes vomit every time I look at them.

Yea, my wife is 5'1". After leveling my truck, she has a hard time getting in with the steps. I'll never be able to get rid of them. I almost put a 3" lift on it. At that point she wouldn't have rode in it, then they would have come off.

 

That’s the same reason I put on retractable AMP steps. They tuck up nicely and come down quite a bit for easy access. I have a 3.5” lift and the wife can easily get in.

There are also other brands out there with similar products. Just do a search for them. Some use magnets for the door opening signal while others splice into the door wiring.

I found them on Craigslist in Central Fl. Had to meet a guy in a Lowe’s parking lot…..lol

 

Ive been thinking about scooping those wheels. I like the idea that they are only 23.5lbs and they are relatively affordable.
