It’s a little less cardboardy than the original crust, maybe just more thinner layers of cardboard. But I think I like them better than the original.
A favorite sandwich joint in town; Bison Witches, does a like half sandwich and soup deal, but they never mention a croissant as an option.......but it is! And it’s a game changer on their already awesome sandwiches

My windshield just decided to split. It's been through all sorts of snow and ice and whatever and what finally made it spread across the whole height of the glass? It was parked in the sun and then I started washing it. I've never heard about that causing a crack. I've heard many times about ice and defrost though. Crazy.

Any suggestions for a budget option to install/ programm new tpms? Besides the bootlegged techstream? Would be nice to find a cheaper handheld scanner that would do it.

 

None of the ones that work well are cheap I’m afraid. The denso aftermarket ended up being the cheapest option. If you have a USB OBD connector I have a connection for the cracked tech stream.

 

Yes. I took a Chevy to a car wash on a hot sunny day and it came out with a complete crack down the middle. Very annoying.

 

Might’ve had a hairline crack already. I would like a new windshield at this point cause mine has so many tiny holes it’s a bit hard to see when the sun is in front.

Finally put a bumper on this old thing, shootout to my wife for wanting to do half the install to start learning how to do this stuff!

 

I still have an oem windshield. I am going to see of the griots glass polish kit will help it out. I'll probably use the cyclo for it.

 

This windshield was cracked when I purchased the ol goat. I used to drive on the interstate every day for work, so new chips and cracks just kept accumulating and worsening over time. Finally got to the point where it was a bit concerning so I replaced. $200 for install in my driveway from a local, reputable shop. Best price I could find by a long shot.

 

Interstate driving around here can be tough. It's a game of pay who. Gravel trucks go 5 over the speed limit and I need to go 10-15 over to pass them without getting peppered, but I can't afford another ticket because the last 3 over ticket that somehow was clocked at 15 over did wonders for my insurance.

I guess it's an excuse to paint my roof and fix the little spot of rust I have right above the windshield.

 

Same here. Had mine replaced in driveway for about $300. Good time to clean up the pillars as stuff builds up there. I added Butyl Tape over the Pillar Clip Holes and cleaned up the Rubber Stripping, as well. That little foam block down under the hood corners needed straightening out on mine. All these things done combo’d together make for a quieter ride. The clear glass is amazing after years of the pitted.

When this happened to me that's what Safelite told me. They told me there was a very good chance I already had a crack that was forming.

 

@Voss I had a car with a ton of roadrash on the windshield - real hard to see driving into the sun. I went to my insurance agent & asked if a new windshield would be covered under the glass coverage in the policy, you know - cheaper than an accident...? They asked me if I had a chip in the windscreen, I said yes about 1,000. They asked if it was in my line of site & I said yes. They said, then it's covered. New windscreen for "free".
If you have glass coverage - give it a try.

 

I'm contemplating vinyl on the hood and roof to address the chips and give some protection for the long haul.

 

I've heard of that. Happened to my neighbors highlander when they washed it in the Summer. Cold water on a hot windshield that had a chip, it had a 2 foot split when he went to dry it.

 

I had a car parked out in the morning shade, Went to wash it before the heat of the day & the water from the hose split my windscreen. I'd never heard of that - but we seem to have discovered an unspoken 'thing' here. :-(

I have the same TYGER bumper guard... actually "had"... I just removed it because I tweaked the fastener hardware while trying to recover someone from a ditch. I don't recommend using it as a strapping point for tow or recovery.
TIP: I also had aux lighting attached to it. You've got a bit of exposed wiring coming from your lights and through the grille. You can hide that. I was able to drill into the tubing and route my wiring (inside the tubing) so it came out at one of the fastener attachments. If you don't wanna do that... you can simply zip-tie it to the exterior of the bumper guard and channel it downward to the fastener hardware, then up into the engine compartment.

It makes perfect sense. I just figured it would happen during the winter with the super cold windshield and hot air from the heater or from the sun coming out on a frozen windshield. I guess temperature change is temperature change. Our water is pretty cold too. Good thing I didn't use the irrigation water or it could have been worse haha. That stuff is like ice.
