Bumper / body damage tips

Any recommendations on fixing the bumper and dent on panel for a DIYer? Had a quote for $800 for both. Ridiculous if you ask me. Long story short, a fully loaded utility trailer got away from us and rolled into the back part of the truck. Sh!t happens I guess, but looking to clean this mess up for not an arm and a leg.

 

Touch up color match paint pen for the scratch. You should be able to get one at the auto parts store or just get one online. Lots of body shops can pull a dent like that for under $200. If the paint cracks when they pull the dent, hit it with the color match brush/pen. Or, get a different quote from a different shop, cause yeah, $800 is steep

 

$800 if done correctly is not a bad deal. I would expect that to go up, once in the shop. I threw some numbers at it, without seeing the rest of your truck, and came up $1200, using our local labor rates. Doing pre and post scans, everything that would need to be done to properly repair. Removing the bumper from the truck, removing that end, repairing that end and painting it. Removing the mud flap, replacing the upper molding (they rarely come off ok), repairing the bedside and repainting it. Not sure if you have a TRD decal on there or not, that would add more to it also.

So if repairs are done properly, it gets pretty expensive pretty quickly.

 

$800 for whole side of the bed fixed and painted is not a bad price. If you want factory look, that's the only way to go. You can't just pull that kind of dent without paintjob
