LineX or dealer for bedliner

Any thoughts in general on which is "better"

I am taking delivery of my Pro soon and ask for only tailgate lock as my accessory - thinking they would likely toss on the bedliner as a "forced option" from the distributor.

Got confirmation yesterday that it will be built/delivered without (but added keypad on door and charger - which I am ok with) to the build.

I can of course allow the dealer to add the bedliner for $550...and realize of course the installer is 98% of the problem you will ever have with a spray in liner - for that reason I'm leaning LineX (might as well have someone who does them all day do it versus a the guy in the body shop who got task with this that particular day).

Any reason to go with dealer over AM? Can't see rust/warranty being an issue..but that is my only thought there.

So what do the dealers without a local LineX dealer do - drive till they find one?

Sorry - but having seen with my own eyes guys back in body putting a bedliner on a truck after repair - I guarantee not everyone sublets their work to LineX (unless the manufacturer has an agreement with that company)

Even if not done in house - plenty of other providers who do bedliners aside from LineX for a dealer to pick from.

I know of 1 Toyota dealer who is a solid 60 miles away from the closest LineX authorized dealer - no way your convincing me they drive an hour plus each way to install every liner - and still charge $550.

 

Every area is different. There are 3 bedliner places within a 10 minute drive of my local toyota dealer.

 

I can't speak to a dealer so far from a Line-X installer. I would assume in that case they have gone to the trouble of becoming a Line-X certfied installer. I can confirm though that the GM dealer I bought my Sierra from years ago took the truck to an installer and didn't do it themselves. I can also confirm that my local Toyota dealer sends trucks to an installer rather than do it themselves. In both cases, the price of the Line-X is inflated by about 10% vs you taking the truck to the installer yourself.

My local Toyota dealer even uses an offsite glass shop to do windshield installs.

My dealer asked me about if I was interested putting in a bedliner when I bought the truck. When I asked for more information, they said "we just have you set up an appointment directly with the Line-X dealer". They don't do that install at the dealership.

So that is how it went for me. No complaints. Couldn't be happier with the result.

If the dealership isn't "Line-X Certified" then I'd stick with an actual Line-X shop.

 

Line x is a scosh cheaper, the line-x near me quotes at 450$ and the quality is just as good. So you could save a few bucks if you get a quote. Plus line-x has a great warranty.

 

Just go directly to a line x dealer, unless you can talk dealer into paying for it. The dealership will charge more and they are only bringing it to a LineX dealer instead of you doing it

My truck didn't come with a liner, my dealer was going to send the truck out to have the liner done. (They didn't specify where) They advised that it would be quicker and cheaper for me just to get one myself.
I drove to a line-x shop and had them do it. 2 hours and it was done. No reason to go with the dealer for this add on.

 

My 2021 has a “port installed” spray on bed liner. It’s high quality so no issues.

 

My dealer claimed that their sister RAM dealership is where my liner was sprayed. It was something I asked them to do as part of the deal. I’m not sure the brand of the liner sprayed, but it looks nice and is holding up fine.

 

Anyone know what “keypad” for door was that OP was talking about?

 

Unless it's aftermarket, the only one I know of is an accessory that is on the windshield. It's a port-installed option, I believe.

My dealer does Rhino lining, I passed and took it to a LineX dealer. The Rhino in my work truck has cut and peeled. No issues with my LineX

 

Already answered, but it means it's installed by the distributor at the port rather than the factory. Truck goes factory -> port/distributor -> dealership. All the options on my truck were installed at the port, for instance.
