I’m putting 33x14.50 or 35 inch tires on 22x14 rims.. Should I upgrade my gearing so it don’t brake my transmission or will the stock gearing suffice?

Anyone that has done this please lmk?

That's a lot of weight to rotate. I'd do it.

My 2017 came with 33’s from the dealership and the gears were stock. I don’t know enough about this kind of thing to know if it’s necessary, but apparently the dealership thought it was fine. At the very least it didn’t affect the warranty. :notsure:

    Do recommend 4.56 or 4.88

I think 4.88 might be over kill...

Hope you are good at wheel bearing swaps and suspension work. You will be replacing wheel bearings every couple years with wheels that wide and heavy! Tie rods, steering components will be very stressed as well. Not to mention the paint on the sides of the truck is going to get chipped up- constantly pelted by dirt, sand and small rocks from the road. With the heavy weight you will need some beefier shocks, maybe springs to control all that.

Not saying it can't be done. Certainly can but you should be aware of what those changes will do to the truck. It will not drive, handle or be as reliable as it is now. Not trying do be a downer, just wanted to make you aware.

    For 33 you'll be happy with 4.56
    For 35 you'll be happy with 4.88
For 14" wide tires you'll need a lot of lift.
For any 35 tire you'll need a lot of lift.

I've seen the trucks in Hawaii, will be cool to see what you do here. I would kill for Zippy loco moco right now.

I’m painting the truck rhino liner so I’m not worried about the dirt and we are gonna double up on the lower fenders... We’re welding a lot of new custom suspension parts as well... The steering will be fabricated as well, but I need to do more research on the bearings... Also adding custom icon coil overs front and rear with Reservoirs...

Also I might just go with fuel 17x9’s with 33x12. 50 or 35x12.50 because that’s probably best for off-roading

but I am in love with the look of 14” wheels, guess I’m still young at heart
