You need to ask for the evaluation report - the report has the comps listed on it

I wasn't aware of a bypass to Lo-Jack Early Warning. I would be interested in more info regarding this bypass method the thieves are employing.

One of Toyota's Connected Services can tell where your truck is from the built in GPS. I asked if I had to have a subscription if I had a police report of the truck being stolen. They said yes. I asked if I could pay for that subscription AFTER the truck was stolen to get them to find my truck for me. They said yes. So I save that $80/year, and can just spend $8 for one month of service to get them to find my truck if it's stolen. I'm not sure of all the trims that have this, but I would think that Toyota would be guilty of Obstruction of Justice if they refused to use that capability to find a stolen truck.

Someone has a ring doorbell. I'd be knocking on doors until I found it on film. I'd just want to know for myself.

Sorry to hear bro. My 2004 4Runner was stolen in 2017, never found. I absolutely know how you feel. I was in your shoes and said "never again", now my 2019 Platinum with $7k in mods is protected by Ravelco, look into it. That's just my thoughts. Everyone will have a suggestion on what's the best. I've done countless hours of research and that's what I chose.

This is a great idea. I’d go up and down the street asking neighbors if they have cameras that pick up the street. It might be too late because it’s been > 2 weeks but worth a try. I have cameras that show my street… it’s amazing what they pick up too….

So day off it being stolen, i knocked on everyones door. Those who had ring doorbells didnt catch anything. The 1 neighbor how had an actual camera pointing at his driveway didn't catch anything due to my vehicle being parked at the next residence over and out of sight.

There was no remote start or keyless entry.
Key/fob are needed to ipen door and key needed to start.

Think twice about this. Do you want them to find it before you get paid? If someone stole my truck I’d want it totaled.

This. Didn’t OP say the payout was around 40k before taking any mods into account? That’s not terrible for a truck going on 5 years old

If it is recovered, depending on condition insurance will total it.
Right now net payout after the car loan is paid out is 37K to me.

If it is found, I could buy back, strip the after market parts and sell off and then go buy new truck.

I spoke with toyota this morning and the vehicle did not have any GPS via the toyota connected services.
They said the truck was able to use GPS via the "scout" app that is used via cell phone and the car navigation mirrors the phone GPS from the Scout app.

I provided receipts of aftermarket parts to insurance but they also requested proof of payment from my bank account that I actually paid what I am saying for aftermarket parts. Upgrades were done in 2018, my online bank account information for transactions only go back to January 2019. I went to my credit union and their system only goes back to January 2019 as well.

If i want transaction information prior to January 2019, i have to pay them a "discovery fee" to provide me with prior monthly statements and transaction information.

At this point I might accept the payout but first will request a copy of their evaluation report to review the comps of "similar vehicles" they used to come to their value of the vehicle.

The banking recovery fee very much? I would think it may be well worth it.
What about pics of the upgrades? Would they count for anything?

Insurance won't take anything into consideration without receipts and possibly proof of funds used.

This is a good reminder to call your insurance and ask them what your current policy provides if your truck is stolen.

This seems unreasonable. I get having to provide a receipt but proof of funds used???? What if you paid cash? What carrier are you dealing with?

I'm curious to know what carrier it is as well. Usually invoices and photos of the vehicle are needed to process everything

Have you tried contacting the vendors that you purchased the aftermarket items from? If they have proof of the transaction, that is all of the proof that the insurance company needs.

    I have AAA insurance.
Still going back and forth on the payout. Have requested a 3rd party appraisal of vehicle. Hopefully they come back with a little bit higher of a payout amount.

Apparently so. Glad we didn't have to "meet in the middle or anything."

I've talked to a few dealerships and they have incoming trucks but not in the color I want.
Spoke to the Fleet Manager and they said with a $500 deposit i can custom order the truck with color, trim and anything else BUT could take 3-4 months to receive the truck.

I saw an SR5 Crewmax 4x4 tundra on the lot yesterday at the Glendale,Ca dealership and there was no dealer markup.

My insurance, AAA, has a car buying program. They will contact me and I will see if they can find the truck I want or what leads they have.
Will also begin calling dealerhsips to see what they have incoming. I like the Sport trim because of all the color match and no chrome.

There are several exceptions that insurers prescribe in the insurance rules. These loopholes in the contract can prevent the owner of a stolen car from receiving compensation for the car's value.
Suppose the insured negligently left the keys in the car, seriously increasing the risk of theft. Or, if the registration documents were left in the car, the insured deliberately lowered the chances of a successful search operation. In that case, the insurance companies are guaranteed to deny payment. In general, if you didn't do any of these things, contact the insurance policy. You can check the information here - https://joywallet.com/review-of-progressive/ .
