Bought my first truck in Dec 2020. Found this forum after that. Not only am I amazed but also humbled by the skill many here have in doing all the mods and upgrades that I have read about here. For full disclosure I bought my truck pretty much to use as a commuter vehicle. Not practical for sure, but I don't care. I wanted a truck. I liked the Tundras and I thought my truck looked BadA$$ so I bought it (it wasn't that spontaneous...I shopped and researched for a couple months..but my "wants" was the #1 criteria and must admit the Chevy Trail Boss looked pretty nice...). The most I will every likely haul in it might be some bedroom furniture from San Antonio to Houston. Currently I haul my clubs to the golf course and two fishing poles and small tackle box down to the creek. Tundra is over-kill by orders of magnitude for those tasks. But back to all the skills on display in this forum. Not sure what is most impressive...the results or the willingness to actually DIY. Not sure what happened to me...back in the day I had no issue tearing the top off my Corvette engine to upgrade the cam or installing headers and swapping out the rear-end on my LeMans. Some of these threads make me want to do some mods to my truck...for no other reason that I see others doing them. So far it has been a tonneau cover and bed mat...you know...all that very technical stuff. But I have stepped up to putting some decals on the back window (have really thought this out actually...last two are on order)..it's a start.

I agree with you brother. When I first purchased ... I just joined the forum just to look and realized what great mods people here were doing and above and beyond that, how nice everyone is here on the forum. Definitely not a forum to show "who's is bigger and better". That is what I get from this forum and the few I got to meet in person are really great people. Ultimately, I think overall is the satisfaction of knowing that you did it all by yourself and took the initiative. I was really scared in the beginning to tear my truck apart but soon realized, the hardest part is getting started.

    Cheers

I was also a MUCH more active DIY'er when I was younger. Then I had kids and all my free time disappeared. Now that they are both gone off to college, I have so many things that NEED doing that I never get to the things I WANT to do. I still have Christmas gifts that I haven't installed on my Tundra yet!

I'll definitely say this forum factored in quite a bit in our purchase of our truck. When I bought my 2000 4Runner, the guys/girls over @ T4R.org helped me fix a few small issues and the like; so when purchasing the Tundra my thought was "If they're anywhere CLOSE to those guys, this should be awesome."

If anything this forum is far better - easily as much help, without some of the "Did you SEARCH boy are you dumb" mentality (lol). Probably the best automotive forum (for the best truck!) I've been on. :)

    It’s addictive.
I’m going to do a build thread of before Tundras.com to after Tundras.com.
Even though I had a ton of stuff on my truck, I’ve change a lot to better products or ideas and have changed quite a bit more beyond that.
The camaraderie, technical skills and folks willing to be so helpful are really what makes Tundras.com what it is.

    But be careful... :spending: :bananadead::typing:

    :pccoffee: :spending: :burnrubber:

    :typing: :spending: :mudding:

I shouldn’t admit it, but I’m guilty of having a pile of Black Friday and Christmas items I’ve yet to install.
Slowly but surely working through it.
I still have items on stinking back order.

I have considered the grab handle mod, but not knowing what i am missing and having no issues getting in the truck now, it was an easy pass for me, at least for now. What I would really like to do is put on different tires. Why? Not because they are all terrain (noise, mpg, etc) but because of those "lugs" that spill over onto the outer edge of the sidewall. Makes it really hard to clean the sidewall. A real PITA for me. If I knew I could sell my current tires (less than 2500 miles) for a decent price, I would probably do it. But knowing my luck, they would sit in my garage for a year and I would end up giving them away during our HOA yard sale. I am not talking about the Rims...I like though they are a challenge to clean was well.

Welcome! Not sure if you have wireless charging on your truck already, but it's awesome and a straightforward install.

My garage is in sad shape, too. LED headlights, sliders and hidden winch mount all sitting there waiting to be installed. Getting to the point where I may bite the bullet and pay a shop to do it. Two kids under 3 = zero free time.

Yes I have to agree. The forums and you tube videos have helped me out a lot doing mods to my tacomas first and then the 4runner and now it will be the tundra. Somethings you would not try but after getting help from great forum members it’s helped a lot.

This site has cost me well over $15K...:eek2::eek2:

Lots of nice helpful people here, then there are people like me..

As far as decals, you must get the most important one of your choice.
    And it's free from @Bob

That is a cool decal and I get it, but my tailgate already says Tundra. My decals are well thought out, not just random. I am proud of my sons so I had to put their college decals on the window, stacked on the right side looking from behind (Longhorns and Aggies). Of course I had to balance that with my MN Gopher decal above the Factory Texas Flag decal. I like fishing so I put a St Croix Rods decal on the bottom middle. My favorite vacation spot is 7 mile beach and I found one that is a 4" round decal. That is going between the St Croix decal and the Aggie decal on the bottom. In the other space between the St Croix decal and the Texas Flag, I have found a very cool vinyl album label recreation of Led Zeppelin IV. That is on order and should be here from the UK soon. It has a lot of maroon color so it had to be away from the Aggie decal. It too is 4" in diameter...perfect compliment to the 7 mile beach decal. And finally I like golf, so a classic cursive TITLEIST decal is coming to go top center. I think that will do it unless I can find two smaller ones to put on either side of the Titleist. Both the St Croix and Titleist are all white. I will post a picture when all said and done. Funny in the past I would never consider putting any decal on my cars!

    Yes, I get it.
I'm picky about the few decals I have on my truck.
My 1997 4-Runner back window was almost completely covered with decals.
Wish I had a pic of it..

Sure you have TUNDRA on your tailgate, but a TUNDRAS.COM decal promotes the website.
The website you spoke so dearly of in your OP.
Wouldn't it be nice to share it others?

With your reasoning, why put on a Texas flag decal when you have a TEXAS license plate?
You're from Texas, we get it....:eek2:

    Anyway, it's your truck.
    I'm just messin' with ya..

Yes, please post a pic when you get it finished..:D

Not sure but either the factory or the dealers puts the TX flag decal on all the Tundras sold down here as far as I can tell. I see them all over.

I'm one of the older members on a regional gun board, and one of the things that irritates me the most are those passive aggressive posts. Well, DUH, I searched. Why do you think I'm ASKING? Here, y'all just post the link and (usually) some more good advice! (Although I think some of you are getting kickbacks from the gear manufacturers! ;) Lord, but I'm trying NOT to have to take our another loan for the added farkles!)

My old Subaru was that way. Come to think of it, I have a bunch on my 2000 Tundra. New one only has the Square and Compasses, Shriner and Widows Sons emblems on it so far. I'll also be getting magnetic signs for the doors made up for Lonely Mountain Arms, my gun shop. Other than that... not sure. It's so new and so nice looking the way it is...

Nice! I got mine done a month after the newborn arrived. We weren’t expecting to have a third either but stuff happens hahaha....when they say to relax and do nothing afterwards I highly recommend it or you’ll be pretty sore!!

I’m looking forward to seeing that thread. I was on that other forum originally too. Never have been much of a “team” player or a social network kind of person but this forum has revised my thought process a bit. I’ve made some good friends here. Never expected it

Trust me, I know exactly what you mean. LOL As an IT guy/sysadmin, I'm used to maintaining a sort-of log of what I'm doing, what I've tried, etc.

Even still, 1/2 of the time on many other forums, EVEN if I ask the question and show everything I did *and* explain why other threads have not answered the question....the first responses will almost always be "LMGTFY" or "Did you even SEARCH? :annoyed:" LOL

Consequently....that's usually how I figure out how long I'll spend time @ a forum. If the majority of the people are passive-aggressive douchebags who can't exercise simple common courtesy, I'm out.

However, if the majority are funny douchebags who like messing with you, like this site (heh), I stick around. :p
