Focal 165AS3 for the fronts and these for the rear

    Focal 165AS

Im most likely going with 2x 10" subs in the rear THESE or these

So what are the thoughts on this setup and what amp should I use?

    Thanks in advance!!

Gonna be a great setup! I have the two 10tw3d4's in a , they sound really good. I would recommend putting them in a ported enclosure.

You could just grab a 5ch amp and call it a day
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13698258/JL-Audio-XD1000-5v2.html?tp=35808
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13698642/JL-Audio-RD900-5.html?tp=35808

Or if you want to get closer to your max power for the subs, you could do a separate 4ch for the doors, and an 800w rms mono amp.

What head unit are you running?

Im leaning toward the phoenix 13 inch head unit when it comes out so for now Im sticking with the non-JBL stock head unit. Do I need something else if Im sticking with stock head unit?

I kept my JBL head unit and ended up with a DSR-1. I think PAC Audio AMPPro is another option but when I got my install done the 2020 version wasn't ready. I'm not sure if the same set up is required or will work with nonJBL.

Not trying to steal your thread but I was looking at the exact same setup. If I end up ordering the phoenix headunit will I need the dsr1?

    No.
DSR-1 primarily cleans up the signal from the head unit so that you have a good signal going into your amp. It also tricks the OEM HU into thinking the OEM Amp is there.

If you are going aftermarket HU you don't need it.

I dont know what a DSR1 is fully but I thought I was reading on 12volt.com or whatever site that it was only needed for a JBL factory system not mine?

    https://rockfordfosgate.com/featured-products/dsr1/

    So you have two options:
You can find a amplifier that will accept high level inputs (basically plugging in the speaker output from the head unit into the amp), problem with this that your factory head unit applies a sound curve that makes the crap speakers they use sound semi-decent. You wouldn't what that curve with your nice speakers
Or get a Line Out Converter to do that legwork and just use rca's from the LOC to your amp. The dsr1 has a lot of features that you can tune your sound curve to make your speakers sound best. There are also some other options out there too (JL, Audiocontrol....)

2021 Pro!! Nitto’s Tyger blades, Arc audio!
I know if I upgrade my 21 tundra pro audio it’s going to be one 5channel amp that is plenty to drive the speakers and 10 inch sub. After I have some discussions with my audio guy owner and installer if they tell me they can have my tundra system kick ass with the factory headunit then I’m going that route. All of my installs over the years I changed out the headunit. Not this time going to try the other route. I have a lot of confidence in my installer.

Couldnt pass 2 sets of these up at $191 each Focal 165 AS

I can always do the AS3s in the front later.

Is this something I should jump on? its either that or I can get a JL audio RD900/5 here locally in ATL for $450 new.

    What do you guys think?

Its a hard pass on the TT setup you link'd. Stuff is garbage.

I think you would be setup nicely with an RD900/5. It will fit under one of the front seats too (make an amp rack out of a piece of wood and some carpet). There should be some picture of an amp rack in my build log....link in my signature.

I dont have much input on those focal 165's as i haven't heard them personally, but i know a lot of people like focal and hertz speakers.

You can put the tweeters in your existing sail panels by using a hole saw to cut out a spot for the tweeters, or you could buy the sail panels with grills in them and mount them behind the grill.

You will need speaker adapters for the front and back.

If you are going to use the factory speaker wires, you will need an adapter plug if you don't want to chop up your factory harness under the passengers seat.

I would recommend getting some sort of LOC (Dsr-1 is the best from what I've heard) if you are going to keep your factory head unit.

Everything you need james at tech12volt has at most likely a better price than what you can find online. 95% of my stereo is from him.
