Curious to see if anyone else has this "issue"

I have a 2012 Crew Cab TRD. For some reason I can run the fuel gauge all the down, but I can never get more than 20/21 gallons in it at the pump..

    Is this common?

    Thanks everyone!

Yes, the large reserve is totally normal.

Worry when you run out of fuel at a quarter tank, like I have, lol... my sender unit is intermittent at a quarter tank

this makes me wonder: has anyone actually ever run out of gas with the 26 gal tank? If so, how many gallons did it accept to refill the tank??

The wife's Rav4 (which gets most of the driving) has the info display that says "low fuel". The one before it just had a light that came on with approx 2.5 gallons left in the tank. When the light came on I knew that in 50 miles or so I would have to fill it up. I read this in the owner's manual but haven't looked in the Tundra manual to see if it's listed. This one displays how many miles are left. When the "low fuel" message comes on but it still says there's 40 or 50 miles before empty. Once it reaches zero or "refuel now" it has about 1.5 gallons left. When you know how big the tank is and and when the light comes on you can figure out how big the reserve is. The problem is, at least with my '07 is that the last gallon or two when filling the tank is a pain. The nozzle keeps shutting off so I never fill it all the way. Toyota is pretty bad about that.

Yes, about 4 times 25gallons. Something since I always carry a 1 gallon jug ready to go...

Mine has exactly 8gals left when the fuel light comes on, annoying but at least it's repeatable.

i guess it's nice to know how much gas you really have left when the gauge says empty. But, in my whole life (yeah I'm a senior citizen) I've only run out of gas ONCE and THAT was enough! Now, when the gauge hits 1/4,
I just BUY gas!!! Maybe it's just the "old guy" in me, but does it really matter if I you have 2 or 5 gallons left.
Hmmmm.... can't think of anything more nerve wracking than watching the neesdle hit "E" and wondering if or when the truck will quit running. LOL
