I have 2016 single cab with bench seating. I want to remove the center seat in order to make room for a cat carrier.
So much of this truck has hidden wiring and fantastic gadgets I am a bit more shy about removing things than I was with my 1984 Ford.
Has anyone removed that center section? Will the truck run without it? Do I need to slide the engine forward or remove the windshield?
It feels like just 4 hard to reach bolts hold it in place. Any thoughts?

Never been in an RC so not sure what your setup is, but if its a true bench seat I can't see where there is anything to remove.
Can you post some pics of your setup?
I've seen the 60/40 setups and dual bucket seats with the center console.
If you have the buckets with the console with the jump seat/fold down arm rest then yes, you should be good to remove that portion, just make sure to unplug any wiring in case you have a 12v plug in there. Other than that there's nothing in their connected to your muffler bearings or blinker fluid lines, so you should be good.

thank you for the encouraging answer. I believe you have also set me straight with regard to the meaning of bench seat. This Tundra does have a center front seat that converts to a console as you describe it. I wrongly figured that with all the new fangled doodads and with $18k being the new $8k for a used pickup truck that this three piece set was the new bench seat.

I really don't think I can add anything to this response.
I feel it firmly and thoroughly addressed the OP's issue.

Well, to be fair, I think that's what folks call a bench seat in a Tundra, three separate pieces to form one long seating surface when the console is flipped up. When I think of a bench seat I'm thinking about the 6 foot long bench out of an old C-10 or something like that, just one long, continuous seat with no breaks.
Either way, I think you'll be fine removing that piece if that's what fits your needs for your cat carrier. Might I suggest measuring the carrier and the width between the seats first to make sure it'll fit.

nah, you think? I just read it as hyperbole and exasperation after years of driving a 1984 Ford.
A 3nd gen Tundra, even a Grade level regular cab, is probably like operating the space shuttle compared to that old Ford.

Leave the poor guy alone. He’s right, the 40/20/40 setup is the new bench seat.

On a side note people have been really testy around here lately. What’s going on?

I don't see any testiness in this thread.

It's been a few years, but I am pretty sure that I had to remove both seats in order to remove the center jump seat.

Mine is a 2015 and no I did not move anything except the stupid center seat insert.
There are a few things under there but nothing in any way hard to work around.

Now the notion of doing this to carry a Cat is another matter entirely?

It depends on how cool the cat is.
